I recently bought a 99 eclipse gst. Its in great shape but the turbocharger is finished. I 'm looking to replace it but I am confused on what to replace it with. I'm going to use the car for more of a daily driver so intense performance mods aren't necessary. Please help thanks.

No, you will need the 16g install kit for a 2g. http://slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=93&

You can get a big 16g on sale for $469 at http://store.forcedperformance.net/...n=PROD&Store_Code=FP&Product_Code=49178-01420

All together with taxes and shipping around $700. This is an upgrade for you but you'll need to keep the boost low or you'll have problems unless you get fuel support and other supporting mods.

If you have to have a shop install everything then keep that in mind for the price. For roughly $250 you can have your stock t-25 turbo rebuilt but you'll still need to uninstall and install it.

what other supporting mods would i need

Words of advise for a sweet Daily Driver. Rebuild your T-25 and then get a sweet suspension set up I mean motor mounts, SHocks struts, suspension bushings, canmber plats and nice set of wheels and tires....Make it FEEL fun to drive ya know? anyway good luck...

anyways you would need fuel and way of tuning....possibly a clutch. Theres more and Im sure other will chime in..Im off for a night on the town goodluck Seeya .

With my 16g I ordered 660 injectors, a 255 walbro fuel pump, FMIC, FPR, and DSM link. That is the minimum that you need I believe. Unless you plan on running low boost you can keep the stock stuff, but I would still recommend getting the fuel upgrades. Also if you don't have a boost controller or boost gauge you need to get one. The reason I went for upgrading the fuel system is because the 16g, B16g, and EvoIII are known to creep on you a little bit and I run 19-20 psi out of mine. I hope this helps. Good luck.

edt: Oh Yeah and like AWDfrank said you are going to need the install kit as well. I pieced mine together one part at a time and it was a headache. Do it all once and be done with it.

thank you i've actually already have a boost guage that was bought for the car i've also considered an air fuel ratio gauge

the t25 seems like the most sound option but the big t28 seems like i would get more for the same amount of money and would the t28 spooling up at 3000rpm hurt me at all

I would say the minimum for more then 10 psi is 550 cc injectors, 255 lph fuel pump, FPR, safc 1 or 2. Depending on boost levels youl'll also need a BOV and a FMIC. I agree with one of the post, a rebuilt t-25 a nice suspension, shifter, bushings and good tires would be a fun daily driver for the same price as a bigger turbo that you won't get much use out of unless you buy another thousand worth of parts to go with it.

FYI I'm running a big 16g with some exhaust parts at 9 pounds and it feels ok, not much better then my 14b, this is pretty much what you would be doing. Of course this will change when I install the rest of my parts:D

Yes!! Heres a nice list ready, we want the same out of our cars...and heres what I would do NOW if I could do it again

I made all the parts bold so you dont get lost in my jibberish haha After reading what I wrote Im about to start over with my car LOL
1.)First Exhaust Duh...that helps anything
2.)Better Intake and filter...Just better movement of air and cleaner air to the Turbo.
3.)Boost gauge...any Turbo car should have this.
4.)1G BOV Crushed properly...will hold more that we want and DOES sound good.
5.)Boost controller since the Turbo is safe to about 14lbs
6.)A Logger just to monitor the situation....make sure the cars always running sound
7.)Get a Short Shifter and in car/under hood bushings...Really easy to do (symborouski (sp) shift kit)...Nice little Feel to going into gear.

8.)PolyUrethane MotorMounts... ( My favorite thing I did to my car ) Puts the power to the ground...my stock mounts were shot and when I would shift I would feel the motor bucking back at my firewall...installed these and it was gone just smooth transition and the car went when I hit the gas. I have balance shafts removed and the motormounts and I dont know why people complain about vibration...dont even worry about it.

9.) Wheels and Tires....Maybe a nice light set of 17's or 18's..Do some research and ask questions when looking for wheels have the right combo can be F-U-N and make a world of difference.

10.)(This is the step that will probably make you smile the most)
Grab a GOOD Coil-over suspension, dont mix and match what should not be. Call and talk to the people...they will be nice. Even more so, we have some SMART people on this board take advantage of that and hit the search button when the time comes.
10B.) Camber kit and Alignment are part of this step..."not a should" or "next week"...dont ruin your new tires and not take full advantage of the suspension....MOD ONCE!:thumb:

Optional for this time is also a Energy suspension bushing kit...it IS supposed to help the "feel". But you do it at the same time as the suspension so you dont have to get 2 alignments!

ALSO: Replace the control arms ( Lateral Arms at least )...only 60 bucks for both lateral arms from ebay and it will not only be safer, but it delivers a piece of mind, might even tighten the car up a bit.. again BEFORE the alignment with step 10.

11.)Grab a set of strut tower bars and put the finishing touches on the driving experience!

Other things that arent a must imclude a good electronic oil pressure guage... BE SAFE not sorry. You could check out some nicer seats too. Ill probably think of more later but alright, thats maily it and no it isnt cheap, but with those mods done correctly I can only imagine haha Goodluck :thumb:

Also I believe a safer, more sound and well put together car will be just as good, if not better than a poorly put together car with "Bigger go fast parts"

Careful what install kit(16G) you get if you also do a FMIC. The J pipe will exit the wrong side.(It's setup for smic) you will need one that exits on the driver side for some intercooler kits. Found out the hard way, ouch.If I were to do it again.....I'd save money by reusing stock water pipes(you just reverse em and tweek a lil), filing the hole pattern on the oil return, reusing some of the metal gaskets(mine were just fine), etc etc grumble grumble:D oh well, half the fun is learnin on my own. :thumb: Good luck!

If your not looking for much gain in HP, why not try this on for size:

Small 16G: http://www.slowboyracing.com/estore/product.php?productid=53&cat=195&page=1
2g Install Kit: http://www.slowboyracing.com/estore/product.php?productid=93

With stock boost levels, this turbo will not do any damage, and it is still considered an upgrade from your t-25. I'd even prefer this to a t28, and for your 740$ You get upgraded lower IC Piping, Aircraft Grade T-Bolt Clamps, and a goodridge Braided Stainless oil feed line.

I'll even knock 20$ off, just to make it that much sweeter.
