Need to rebuild my 2GFWD trans to hold HIGH HP. IPT ,LEVEL 10,or ALTO overhaul kit?

I have a heavy modded (getting there) 97 GST AT. I'm already on my 2nd trans and it's going bad already. i'm going to fix the trans in the next couple of months. I'm considering getting IPT HI-PER trans and a Billet Converter (haven't decided, $4k in parts+shipping+install). My next option is getting an rebuilding kit and a billet converter. Who do you think has a better overhaul kit. ALTO,LEVEL 10 or IPT? Anybody using ProTorque ,Level 10,IPT converter? Is it billet? please help me out. Jose

In my experience I have not had very good experience with Level 10 as most automatic DSMtuners will tell you. Alto kits are decent but I hear there end clutches arent as strong as IPTs end clutches. I would highly recommend IPT, they are probably the best vendor we have for us auto guys. The full race build with the billet converter is a bit pricey but its the best we've got if you wanna look at it that way. I have the IPT overhaul kit on my car but its just gaskets, seals and little stuff. Though it maybe better than stock its still might not handle alot of power you are talking about. I say go with the IPT full build and the converter that should hold for your needs. There are a few guys on the boards that have IPTs transmissions and they seem to be doing quite well.

A quick search would have told you that pretty much everyone on this forums recommends IPT. I used their rebuild kit + a high stall TC. Couldn't be happier with the service or how well my tranny works now.

I would like to see how they are doing. Do you know their usernames. You have an IPT rebuild kit/TQ conv. and so far is working for you. Do you have an upgraded turbo? size? I'm just trying to get an idea how much their rebuilding kit is holding so far. Thanks for help, replying to my post. JOSE

I think ive talked to you before, I have the 60-1. I have a stock converter my level 10 restalled converter broke on me. So i had to settle for the an oem one for the time being.

They all have fully built IPT transmissions I believe. VRC racing is russ coxe who runs 9s and i think hummers car is ethier 11s or 10s. Boogieman did a 12.4.

98TalonTsi is running the IPT race trans and I will be as well come the Spring. NO ONE is better with import transmissions than John over at IPT!
