I bought a 1996 2g gsx :D. The guy I bought it from had the motor out ### the entire thing was rebuilt from the ground up. Everything is there that is needed to put it back in. This is my first dsm and haven't done something like this before and I want to learn as much as possible. Are there any tips or advice for putting this motor back in? Anything I should watch out for?

^^ 12 pack of corona's (24 if theres 2 of you) a cherry picker and some music.

I've got all those except the video. My buddy is a mechanic and has done a swap on a non turbo eagle talon. I imagine the setup in my motor is generally the same thing? Were doing the job without a lift as well. Just a jack, hoist and beer power. If u guys have done a motor install on a gsx before, did u run into any problems at all? And if so, what can I do to avoid them

if its just the motor and an automatic with the trans is still in the car then you can get away with building basically the entire motor minus the waterpump pulley, harmonic balancer, and a/c compressor. i just did mine last week. tore it out, replaced all gaskets, rebuilt the head and had it back in the car running in 2 days but it was 2 16 hour days.. this is basically what you want the motor to look like going back in.

The best way to learn is to jump in there. It's a pretty easy process and you'll pick up your own tricks along the way.
