A few months ago when I was taking part in an autox school I was beating myself up just trying to navigate the slaloms. My PS pump was cutting out all over the place and the steering ratio is so bad that I had to spin the steering wheel like crazy. After doing several runs thru the slaloms I'd get out of the car with my arms all pumped up and breathing heavy. I have the same problem at the local autox's but the affects aren't so bad because the courses aren't full of slaloms. The rally crosses are even worse because you're doing so much lock-to-lock steering in the corners.

So I've been looking for a fix for the crappy steering and I came across one of these steering quickeners here http://www.secureperformanceorder.c...D=8&ClassID=111&SubclassID=523&ProductID=1740

It looks like it would work if I could find a way to install it but has anybody tried something like this? What do you guys who want precise and fast steering do?

There is a mod you can perform to the PS pump to help alleviate this. I believe 1Gs suffer this quite a lot.

In a 2G, if you run into this problem it is a driver issue, not a car problem. I don't know to what degree this is true of a 1G though.

The mod is detailed on the VFAQ site.

Yeah, the PS cutout really sucks. Many people say that if you're getting it then its the fault of your driving. Thats BS. It can be partly the fault of your driving but course setup has a lot to do with it. At the autox class last year the tight, high-rpm slaloms were killing my arms with the steering effort and it got worse the faster I drove.

The thing is I know how to alleviate the PS cutout, what I really want to know is if anyone has used one of those steering quickeners on a DSM. The steering ratio of our cars is terrible for taking those tight corners.
