So, I have grown tired of throwing money at my 420A and have been searching for a 4g63 of some kind on craigslist ever since I found a buyer for my car. I found a nice looking 95 TSi AWD, but it has no compression in one cylinder and from what the guy says, It will need a turbo soon. I am checking out the car tomorrow, it starts and runs, just not well.

Basically what I am asking is this, what is it gonna cost to get the engine fixed? Should I just get an eBay rebuilt head and do it myself? as well as a stock turbo? And if everything else checks out, is it worth $2000? DSM's are hard to find around here, and picking up a working turbo model isn't easy to find under 4k.

Any help is appreciated fellas. :thumb:

$2000 for Talon with a bad engine and turbo seems like a bad deal to me.
Who knows what the rest of the drivetrain might have experienced in its lifetime.

Good point, however, how much abuse is the drivetrain going to get from a stock motor? Even if he abused it to hell the drivetrain should be okay, assuming all fluids and such were kept up. Some of the swaps I have seen push this drivetrain pretty tough, and it holds up. Now I say all this speculating that there has been no outside harm, i.e. speed bumps, rocks, crappy mechanic etc.

Haha, yea he kinda jumped when I said I might be willing to pay that after I look at it. We will see what goes down. Turbos look to be on the cheap side, so thats fine. Heres to hoping I just need to replace a valve!

I would walk away, seems like the car has been negleted. Id give him 1k and tell him your being nice if u decide u need this car. Maybe u need to travel for your next DSM
