hey i was thinking about buying this mani but i'm not a big ebay guy and i know they sell some cheap s*it so some input on this would be great:

That is possibly an SS Autochrome piece. A quick search on this forum, or any other tuner forum will render hundreds of negative comments about SS Autochrome. Even if it isn't a SSAC piece, it is still a cheep POS. Tubular manifolds that are made by reputable companies have a hard enough time staying together and not cracking.

Keep in mind that for the street, tubular manifolds aren't always the best bet. The start stop start stop of every day driving translates into cold hot cold hot for the manifold. Durastic and frequent changes in the temperature of the mani cause it to crack.

Long story short, if this is your daily car, I would question a choice of buying a high quality tubular manifold for your car, let alone a cheep knockoff.

I'm no pro but this looks like typical SSAC manifold.

Basically any real quality tubular manifold will cost you upwards of 600+
General consensus is that tubular manifolds are not good for daily driving due to cracking at the flange or welds.

Stick with the tried and true cast manifolds.

Just look at the price and that will let you know that it is not good quality. Tubulars tend to crack a lot. Meaning only good for a race car not street. Even after buying a top brand $700 mani, people usually go and reweld all the welds to make sure it will not crack as fast. But they always seem to crack one day. Go cast when buying a mani

I agree with MMM. These tubular mani's are knowen to have the welds break and crack.

If this car is going to be for street use I would recommend a ported 2g manifold, or a EVO III. Cast iron manifolds hold up longer and keep out more heat of your engine bay than a tubular manifold does. Plus you can find these failry easy and rather cheap as apposed to a tubular.

Yes. Exahust wrap is a very good way to keep the heat away from the engine and fairly cheap. If your going to wrap the exhaust be sure to wrap it all the way out of the engine bay to get best use out of it. Just wrapping the manifold wont do much.

Personally I wouldn't think wrapping the mani would do much to the chances of it cracking but I could be wrong. Im with the others, a tubular mani isn't a good idea for a daily driver. Look at the price & that should tell you about the quality. For a descent tubular mani you would be looking at $500 & upwards of $1000.

I don't think wrapping would do much either. It does hold in the heat but also traps moisture which can lead to premature rusting

Ya defently go with a cast manifold if you want it to last. i recommend the gt manifold if you are staying with a mitsubishi turbo. If you are going t3t4 go with the turbonetics one or the turbonetics knock off on ebay, treadstone. Same design, lifetime warranty on cracking, and its 300 on ebay.
