Ok so heres the deal....In the near future i wanna put my car through a rebuild and have a set up thats able to withstand a little more abuse than stock. So heres what i have planned..
2g Pistons
1g Rods
ARP Head Studs
4 layer Metal Head Gasket
Stainless Valves
What Kind of Piston Rings Should I get that would go on the 2g/1g set up??
Also, i hear people talking about switching to a 4g64 crank....would i have to do any modifications to the block to put that in??
Any other thing you guys think should be included into a rebuild let me know. Thanks a lot

As for the rings, just get the rings that go with the pistons. You're ordering 2g pistons, well the vendor should also sell 2g piston rings that go with them. Get those. As for the 4g64 crank. You have to notch out portions inside the block. Because of the longer stroke and higher rod angle, the block needs to be notched to prevent the rods from hitting.

Also to maybe add a couple other quick things. Remember you need to get the 1G rods machined to fit the 2g pistons. Also just thought I'd chime in about your choice in head gasket. Not sure if you know, but a stock composite headgasket and some ARP's do handle their own. You don't need a metal headgasket. Unless you get both the surface of your block, and the bottom of the head both milled perfectly flat, you could run the risk of a metal HG leaking, when a stock composite one would have sealed perfectly. Plus the Stock ones are what, like 50 bux cheaper or sumthin like that? Anywho good luck with the build. Just thought I'd chime in on those couple things so you can ponder them.

I've been planning a rebuild too -- cars going in this week.

I'm definately getting heat resistant exh. man. studs.

I planned on getting 2g pistons on 1g rods but might go with forged pistons if price isn't too much higher. When you factor in not having to get the rods machined when using forged the price might not be that much more and the rings might be better. That's something I have to check into.

Thanx for that info on the head gasket -- was thinking metal but will now have to talk to the shop about what you said.
