I need some help ASAP! I got a complete 4G63T 7-bolt complete engine and trans for an easy penny, and I have been looking for a shell. Now I found a shell but its a 2G GS shell and its cheap. I know everything is backwards from the4G63T engine. However heres why Im asking for help. In my local salvage yard sits a 1996 Eclipse GST that I can get the complete front end from for $250. This includes all suspension arms, subframe and cross member, hubs and brakes, axles, and he'll even throw in all the wiring I need from the engine bay. So now that I found this Im wondering if I should buy this 2G GS shell and swap everything over, but also is this possible? I have all the tools I need, my older brothers a tech and his boss lets us use the shop on weekends and my brother in law is a fabricator. Im going to be building this into a road race/ time trial car. I feel I've struck gold in the past week, but i want to make sure its real gold and not some fools gold.

The front frame rails are diffrent. U need a gst or gsx body unless u are wanting to transfer the rails from the gst or gsx to a gs. Which would be a waist of time. The reason, the 420a trans is on the left side so the left rail is humped. While the gsx gst trans is on the right side so the the right rail is humped for clearance.

IF you keep an eye out you can find a turbo shell for a few hundred dollars. As stated this is a huge project. You will have to replace everything from the bumper to the firewall with the exception of the radiator support. That means drilling out all the spot welds from the lower frame rails, upper structure and strut towers. From there you will have to do the same to the donor car, and then weld the parts into your body. You will be very lucky to get it anywhere close to straight if you don't have the correct equipment. You will also have to get the turbo subframe, chassis harness, engine harness, injector resistor pack, fuel lines, axles, and pretty much everything bolted in the engine bay. You will be in it a couple grand before you even know what happened.

Thanks for input, Im glad I didnt go ahead and buy anything else other than the engine/trans. I have found like 5-6 GST shells, but the yards wont sell the shells.
