I just recently purchased a :talon:'95 Eagle Talon ESI that was pretty banged up. I replaced the suspension with the Tokico hp "blue" shock/spring kit. I've just finished the front end of the car and the wheels/tires that came with the car were from a Lexus:barf:. They are 225/60-16 and there are spacers on all of them. They are too big for the car and the car scrapes everytime I hit any kind of bump or dip in the road and I'm tired of it! I'm restoring the car so I'm going to go ahead and buy some new wheels/tires. I just don't know what would work with my 1.5" lowered car! I was thinking about going with 215/45-17's. Do you guys think this would be a good size? Can I go bigger? I've been doing alot of searching and I think I want to go with these!

Tires- Sumitomo HTR Z

Wheels- ASA AR1 Black w/Mach Lip

Any help would be Greatly Appreciated! Thanks guys!:beatentodeath:

235/45/17s. 215s are dinky to me. My car isn't dropped. I have no idea what offset or width those Lexus wheels are. Might be more of an issue with the offset than the overall size of the wheel/tire combo. When my car was lowered it was on 17X7s with 225/50/17s and I had no rubbing of any kind. The 60 sidewall is too tall. The tallest I have seen is 16X7s with 225/55/16s. I have had that size on my car when it was slammed again with no rubbing.

Wait a second, 16s are too big so you're going to buy 17s? The tires are too big, not the wheels. You should be running 205/55/16 on that car.

The rims are not the issue, it's how tall the tire is. The rims are ugly and have lexus imprints so I want to switch those out. I can go with a larger rim but with a smaller tire. I'm just not too sure if that's a good Idea, I want there to be plenty of clearance but I also want good handling. Would it hurt to have bigger rims? Or should I keep them 16?

You have a lot of size options.

I run a 17x8 wheel and a 225/45/17 snow tire and I am also pretty slammed on Eibach Sportlines and I have yet to have any wheel clearance issues. I actually plan to get 235 or 245s next time I buy tires.

Like everyone else said, you're having rubbing issues because you have a 60 series sidewall which is a lot. Also keep in mind that 205/55/16 is roughly what the stock wheel/tire size is.

215/45-17 is what came on my Spec V here's a gander at what they will look like. And yes, They will look dinky.

I run 245-45/17's (Mustang size) on my 2g and it's lowered a couple inches and never rubs. Wider and taller than stock.

Back when I ran the stock size tires, I had to pound the lip up under the rear fenders or the tires rubbed on every bump, and these bigger ones didn't make it any worse.

215-15/17's are stock size on a GSX, so your mentioned 215/45-17's would seem a little small. I bought another 2g GSX recently that has 225-45/17's and it looks just fine though.

So 245-45/17's (Mustang size) will fit without spacers? I might want to go with these if they look like they have a little more meat on the bones. How much smaller would that be compared to 225/60-16's?
Thanks for all of the input guys

Must've been from an old Lexus being 16s.
Now the newer Lexus rims 17+ are pretty much all sexy with the exception of few.
Don't forget the IS F 19" BBS forged aluminum rims at $2400 a pop.

Those rims are sick and will work... i would love to have that set on mine but in 18s LOL

Spacers should have more to do with the rim offset & width than the tire.

Those 225/60-16's would be huge.

Calculations:

245/45-17: diameter: 25.7in circumference: 80.7in
215/50-17 25.5in 80.0in (Stock 2gb)
235/45-17 25.3in 79.6in (Stock Evo)
225/45-17 25.0in 78.5in
215/45-17 24.6in 77.3in

225/60-16 26.6in 83.7in
205/55-16 24.9in 78.2in (Stock 1g)
225/50-16 24.9in 78.1in

Would it even be worth it to put these tires/wheels and the buddy club 2 body kit and paintjob on a N/T 420a car with 145K miles on it?

You're right, I'm going for the 225/50/16's. I just don'e know how much longer the enging will last on this car.....it has 145-150K miles on it. The speedometer broke at 144k and I don't know how to fix it, I think I just need to replace a cable. Do you guys think it's worth it to put any money into this car?

True but when your talking ~10gs with tax just for the rims...please...I'd go with something much better looking and lighter rims for under 2 grand.
After a few customers found out how much they cost, they switched to some cheapos for winter. :D

For those who are too lazy to look up what they look like.
