Need Help with VC!

I'm replacing my gasket. I already know how to do it but that's not the problem. The problem is the little half-moon won't come out of the head. Isn't it supposed to pop out? Am I doing something wrong? Need answers, my internals are exposed as we speak!

when i did the valve cover on the hubby's gst... that little half moon didn't wanna come out either. it was so old and hard and crispy... i ended up taking a pick and trying to push it out. it ended up breaking, but i was lucky enough to be able to get all the pieces. just be easy with it, because i'm sure if you look at it wrong, it'll break too.

I got it. I had to remove my intake and take a straight screwdriver, stick it in the bottom end and turn it. Popped it off. Little rascal.
