need help with friends car 96 eclipse RS and his HG just went out

i need help on my friendds car... he has a 96 eclipse RS and his HG just went out.. he currently has i,h,e...and did a complete tune up..so while replacing the head gasket there gonna to the t-belt and water pump...my question is should he port and polish the head while is in the machine shop ?? should he bore the head or do anything to it??? he's thinking of going NA and might do cams and gears....thanks!

If your going to do anything start with a bore and steel forged internals the port and polish doesn't make that big of a difference unless your going to go for big power

Are you sure its the head gasket? I mean do a leakdown test and compression check and if it the head gasket. Your gonna have that stuff apart any way so you misewell replace all the belts, water pump all that stuff. Do pcv valve or crankcase breather. If you got new plugs and wires and everything those should be fine. I thought I had a head gasket out too, then I did the tests and theres nothin wrong with it. all my belts an what not are brand new so took all my parts back to the store. any way check it out and keep us posted.

yeah we defiantly checked it...and its the HG..he has some heating issues and i think that was the cause....but should he even think of bore or anything...yes he is going to do the water pump and t belt

No need to bore unless the cylinders are tapered, out of round, or damaged.
