HI my name is Fernando and I have two eclipse car that are broken down! I want to do engine swaps on them so my question is I am looking to beef up a 1996 GST 5speed Front wheel drive! so I need a 4g63t engine with low miles and good price! where do I find one that you guys have had good luck with? website? I have been looking but I don’t know if to trust them! my other question is also same to first one. I have a 1995 GS front wheel drive and it has 420a engine! so I need a cheap one also with low miles! no big hp plans for this one! My last question is kind of related to the first one. Since I have a 4g63t engine what is the differ with a red top? vs. a Sliver top? and 6 vs. 7 bolt motor? how do I find out what I have? like I said its a 1996 GST Front wheel drive! I have a sliver top

First to start 6 bolt vs 7 bolt, the 6 bolts are usually stronger more reliable engines the 7 bolts are famous for "crank walk" you have a 7 bolt most likely if it's the stock engine in your car. You don't need to run off and get a new engine, don't fix what isn't broken. A red top is the jdm 4g63 and the usdm is the silver top. Around here there's a lot of import engine shops but you can find one online I'm sure. If your engine is screwed anyways go 6 bolt which will more than likely be the red top. Did you say you want to put a 4g63 in the 420a? You'll need a new tranny axles etc. which will be a lot of work and a lot of money if the engine is seized just find another cheap 420a and make that one your daily it should be very reliable :pray:
 
I have 2 Eclipse! One is a 420a! The other one is a 4g63t! I want to fix both! I really think that both engine need to be replace!
 
well then your going to need to buy 2 engines?..
a 420a, and then a 4g63 (preferably the 6 bolt)
 
try ebay, you can find a jdm used engine for alot cheaper :)

THANKS! I did check there but i didn't know what to look for other then a 4g63t! Thats also why i wanted to know about a sliver vs. a red top! Correct me if i am wrong.

Red top is JDM!
Sliver is USDM!
Also Red top is 6 bolt and sliver is 7 bolt!
