Bought my 94 talon with broken tbelt and bent valves.
Got a used head that had new valves from a friend, said his car wouldn't run with that head and not sure why. It all appeared good so i bought a new head gasket and threw it on with the old head bolts. All seemed good.
Car took a lot of cranking to start (10=15 seconds)
Took it down the road and ran fine but would cut out above 3k rpm or so. Found out it was just the intake tube sliding off the tb under boost
.
Was running okay but wouldn't idle and tries to die when coming to a stop.
The starts with about 10 sec of cranking when cold but once it starts to warm up it takes atleast 30 sec of constant cranking to start, a few times it wouldn't start and i had to push start it. when push starting it it starts up in about a car length.
The cam sensor is all the way advanced cause thats where it starts the best but it idles at about 2k rpm that way.
The turbo sometimes spools very slowly and sometimes only to 7 or 8 psi, sometimes it spools quick and goes all the way to 11. (turbo looks new and has no play)
It feels like the car has no bottom end power and i'm almost floored on take off.
Also second gear went out when trying to roll start it. Now it just grinds. I can usually take off in second if i hold the shifter in place but thats it. Does it sound like i broke something or just the cable adjustment off? (reverse is kinda hard to shift into also)
The car is all stock and has 123k miles.
also check engine light comes and goes but i cant get no codes. I tried taking a test light and grounding it and checking the corner pin on the thing attached to the fuse box but i'm not coming up with anything, am i doing it wrong?
I cant figure out whats wrong with it. (i'm sure its several things)
I just got a new fuel filter that i'm about to put on.
Maybe i have the timing belt off a tooth?
This is my only car so i have to get it going good asap.
Anything ideas on what to check or look for would be very helpful
thanks
