Hey guys, havent been on for w hile but i was hoping to get some help on my setup. Ive got a fully forged motor(2.2 long rod from howell-8:6:1) over sized valves, crane 14 cams, ported and polished head & intake manifold, arp head bolts, pt cruiser lifters/ rockers, new valve springs, knifeedged crank, AEM cam gears, UDP, basically setup for boost. The turbo parts i have so far:
Hahn super 20g turbo
3" hahn downpipe
all Hard I/C piping
custom turbo manifold
HKS SSQ BOV
return lines and fittings
all gaskets needed
Extra oil pan (not sure what size to tap it?)
The parts i need to get (please help out here!)

feed lines (any1 know what sizes? im thinking 4an)
I/C (planning on 12x24x3 bar&plate
Missing Link
THIS IS WHERE I NEED HELP :
Walbro225 pump?
Vortech SFMU?
550cc injectors?
SAFC II?

My goal is to hit around 350 whp, and run into mid 12's . run around 11psi daily, maybe 18-22 at the track. Ive got a stage 4 clutch, fidanza flywheel and phantom lsd. The question i have is:

what is the best fuel management for daily driving? i dont want to deal with the idle surge, stulling, or all that stuff after installation. What problems might i run into? what would you reccommend? whats the safest way to do this? any help is great. TIA :thumb:

nice motor man!!!! well as far as fuel management don't buy the safc or sfmu in your case. i would go with the walbro fuel pump, 550's, afpr, MEGASQUIRT. the safc2 does little for our cars. and if you check out 2gnt.com and read up on the megasquirt you will like what you see. to give you a idea of cost someone is making a megasquirt system for me with all the bells for 550 which is on the high side but he has built many and i trust him. the afr is about 150 and the injectors will be around 3.

you can use the sfmu and 450's up to 15psi daily and maybe 20 psi for the track. but i would stay away from the safc you wont be happy. i will be going megasquirt in a month so i might be able to help if you need it.

sweet. thanks for the quick response. Ive researched abit about the megasquirt on 2gnt until they banned me. :notgood: so i no longer have access to that. From what i read though, MSnS requires ALOT of tuning. Im not fimiliar with all that very much, so im afrqaid the cost of installation might bite my ass more then the unit itself. Other then the MSnS, i was thinking the portfueler. Again, im afraid this may require too much tuning. any tipps or experiences/ stories w/ any of these? i can install the fuel components but they electronic units is what scares the #!!# out of me...

tuning is a big thing. think about it. a wide band will help alot. and for me i am getting a few fuel maps with my megasquirt that should put me very close to where i need to be. any ems will have to be tuned. portfuller, megasquirt, aem, haltec, even emanage(right big rand?:thumb: ) tuning is part of going big. if you want to run the boost you will have to read up on tuning. it scares me too. but its all a learning process. good luck man i will help when i can.

why were you baned from 2gnt?

Yeah thats what im scared of as well. One mistake and my expensive motor goes BOOM! well, time to hit the books again... but im sure it will pay off... any other advice/ suggestions on my setup? im still learning...

The Megasquirt and Portfueler/8 inj setup are both relatively easy to tune. You can make them as complicated as you want or as sipl as you want. MS fuel only is good for many people and can be learned in about 1-2 hours by toying with it.

Selmer, you will love the MS I send you! The preset maps will allow the car to run but you will need to do some tuning. The good thing with MS is that the supporting software allows you to just input datalogs and the tuning is done for you. Then you just need to input the values into your VE table.

If MS scares anyone I encourage them to find someone not too far away and to look at the operation of it as well as download the software an see how it sets up on your PC and looks. Its not difficult at all, I assure you. EMS, Haltech, those can be found difficult by far! I was hoping to see that MS spread here a bit as well, i have tried to get Steve Piette into MS but he is too interested in those damn 4g63's....:p

Thanks for the info. Where can i get the MSnS? how much is it usually around? also, when i purchase it, would i need to buy any other items to support the system/my car?

http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html

That's the main website. They have links to specific vendors from there.

The price depends on how far you want to go with the set up. I'd say they start from about $200.

You won't need to buy "supporting mods" for your car. However, because of the DIY nature of MS, there is a good possibility that you will need to buy supporting equipment for the MS system itself (i.e. wire, sensors, etc.). My advice is to go to that website and read as much as you can.

you'll need a 1:1 fpr, bigger injectors, coolant and intake temp sensors, wiring harness, and other goodies which could all be had at once depending on where you purchase from.

We talked bout MS ahwhile back as well Terry, I can't wait to have my car ready to order one :dsm:

There are a couple places you can get them prebuilt. At this time i build and configure them for the 2GNT on another website many of you belong to as well. as far as the MS goes the average setup is about 450.00 for everything. I dont want to advertise here so just send a PM if you want details. Read as much as you can on MSEFI.com

Get the MSnS from Terry. He knows what he's doing.
