Okay, I am driving a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST, pretty much stock, just an aftermarket exhaust, and my "Check Engine" bulb is out. I know that it is sipposed to come on for five seconds as a bulb test after start-up, but it no longer works. I'm sure that I can find the bulb at the parts store, but I do not know how to get to it. Can anybody help?

2 Screws remove the cluster trim (at the top) then there is 4 more to remove the cluster.
After you remove the screws you just pull the cluster out, flip it over and the bulbs twist out of there sockets.

Just so you know, it might take some finageling to get the cluster out....but keep working at it and you'll get it. (it took me a while the first time I took mine out, but it's a piece of cake now)

Alright, I was just wondering. Over at autozone.com in the repair section, it says to get to the instrument panel, I need to remove the steering wheel, and since I know nothing about cars so far, I didn't want to mess with that.
Thanks

You definately don't need to take the steering wheel off to get the instrument panel out. As said there should be a few screws holding the instrument cluster trim in, remove those and take the trim off. Then for the instrument cluster itself there should be two phillips head screws on each side holding it on, remove each of those and then the instrument cluster will be able to come out. Just shimmy the cluster a little to loosen it up, it will make getting it out a lot easier. Next look at the back of the instrument cluster and match up which bulb is burned out. Remove the bulb and connector by turning connector to the left. Once both of those are out remove bulb carefully so you don't break it while its still in connector. A little trick is to just get a shop rag or small towel and place it around the bulb (to insulate bulb) and then use needle nose pliers with light pressure to pull it out. Once bulb is out you can take it to the local auto parts store and they should be able to match it up for you. Installation is just the opposite. Hope this helps. Quick hint: Make sure when putting instrument cluster back in that the back is connected securely, or the instrument cluster will not work.
