NEED HELP PLEASE!! Black smoke and strong smell of gas

Yesterday I was driving down the street I stopped at a red light and when it turns green I take off kinda fast I get it up to 20 mph and it starts hesitating like if its gonna stall I pull over immediatley and check it out I dont see any leaks or anything so I get back in and try to drive home the fastest I could go was like 30 mph if I went higher it would start hesitating like if its dying anyways I got it home I got out of the car there was a little bit of black smoke coming out of the exhaust and a very strong smell of gas I called a mechanic and asked him what it might be he said its probably the fuel pump can anyone give some ideas on what it might be also my bov is a little cracked could that be any part off the problem thanx

Its a 98 Gst Auto w/
rebuilt motor bored .30 over
and everything else is stock

BOV cracked where?

Pull your plugs, what color are the electrodes? Pictures of the plugs would help determine it there's a rich/lean issue, if you're oil fouled, etc...

check the plugs... maybe a few of them arent firing.

also, check your coil. is it the original one thats been in there for 130,000 miles? if so, you might need a new one. 2g DSMs came with crappy spark plug wires, its a good idea to get some nice beefier aftermarket ones if you dont have them already. I had the bad coil problem. the motor would hesistate and shake, wouldnt go over 30, and i was at high boost wherever I went.


also, yeah check that fuel pump too

Just sounds like a simple large boost leak to me. Start simple and cheap, pressurize the intake system.
