need help, looking to buy motor & tranny

alright so ive been into the subie world for a while and ended up getting a legacy but now im hopefully getting a DSM soon, anyway i was looking at a 2ga gst converted to gsx shell, the guy wants 650 for it,
im deciding whether to get a 7bolt or 6bolt ad i was wondering if anyone would know the price range for 6bolt just the motor and a 7bolt w/o tranny and 7bolt w/ tranny
i know millage comes into play with the price so im not looking for exact numbers . And is there anyway to tell the millage on the motor if its already been pulled out already? thanks for any input,

I would suggest buying from a jdm website. J-spec has alot of good review's and I plan on getting motor's for all my cars from them. There is an excellent jdm motor identification guide on this website I think it is under the tech section subtitle engines. Good luck!

I know it's not the cheapest route, but why not find a motor and rebuild it?
Or a core and rebuild it properly? I know those sites say low mileage and they come with 6 month warrentys..

In doing so, you can replace everything with OEM parts and realistically have a reliable dsm.. As well as build the motor with internals that are appropriate for the goals with your car.
