Need help identifying my DSM

[Se7en x Eclipse]

So I recently bought a 97 eclipse, only problem is i dont really know which trim is it (It's deff not GSX/GST) On the papers that the dealer gave me said it was a GS, but I didnt believe it, it has roll up windows, manual locks,cloth interior, has a high rise spoiler. People tell me its a RS, But i thinks its a base model, not too sure though, any thoughts?

Pretty sure RS is the base model.
GS had the power options.

When you insure it you give the vin number, this will tell you what trim level it is. This happened with a Del Slow SI that I was trying to pass off as a base model for cheaper insurance. I was a thinker when I was young......

I would definately think it's an RS, seeing it does not have any power option. Just call your local Mitsubishi dealer and give them your VIN, they can tell you for sure.

Definitely an RS I had a 96 RS and it had manual everything now I know they had some kind of 97' plus anniversary limited edition with the gst/gsx spoiler unless someone converted it

By the sounds of it you have an RS, But check the rear breaks, drums is an RS, disc is a GS. That will tell you for sure.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I beleive all DSM's other than AWD's have drums on the rear from the factory.

Nope only the RS. GS, GST, GSX all have disc in the rears.

Do the vin decoding. Special orders could make for a confusing identification of the vehicle.

Sounds like some one did a swap. If this is the case then making it awd again would be easy and a must in my book.

As far as rear drum brakes are concerned some RS and ESi came from the factory with them.
No GS or GST-T or GSX, I've ever seen had drums in the rear.
And all models could be purchased with out a sunroof.
To the OP run your vin number it will tell you the model.
Usually the roll up windows are a dead giveaway to a RS model.
