I have a 95 eclipse motor is all stock only exhaust and a cold air intake on it.
I need help im trying to figure out what is going on before i give up.
If im going down the highway it will hesitate like it missed, just for a fraction of a second tho. it also sometimes does it if i get on it.
the worst is when im just sittin at an idle it will just die. doesnt sputter or try to save itself just dies.
it does it completly at random. may be fine one day or worse another.
this is my first dsm so im new to it. i love the car just not the problems.
I have just replaced tps thinking it would help...but nothing.
Is it caused by a vaccum leak, fuel problem, ignition problem, or the ecu?
need help thank you:confused:

That could be a number of problems, here are some suggestions, boost leak, spark plugs, spark plug cables, bad coil, bad battery terminals (loose connection), bad ground, your MAF might be going out, or maybe a lose wire to the MAF, clogged fuel filter, or maybe your fuel pump is going out or the in tank filter is getting clogged. Do you have a check engine light at all? And do you have your BOV recirculated into your intake?

its a non turbo..sorry forgot to change that....and i have no cel. but when it dies it throws one up but when i restart it its gone so cant get to a scanner quick enough...a few weeks ago it had a cel for a o2 sesor but i hasnt come back

Well that might be your problem your 02 is probabley on its last leg. Try changing it out and see if your situation changes , if it threw a cell evan once then you should change it, also check your plugs, wires, and fuel filter, I'm not to familiar with the 420a other than my neon. Assuming its a 2g.

well usually when the oxygen sensor goes bad the ecu has to guess how much fuel to add, and will in most cases over compensate causing a rich condition, so maybe the cel you were getting for your 02 was because you are ruining lean, not because your 02 sensor is bad. My guess would be the problem lies in your fuel system, so I would change your fuel filter, check your fuel pressure, and maybe for good measure change or gap your plugs correctly.

No problem, when you find the issue and fix, post back with a description of what the problem was, how you fixed the problem and mark this thread as resolved. Good luck.

ok so today went to start car and nothing car wouldnt start....seems like no fuel cause it will start very rarely and i drive ten feet and it dies doesnt sputter just out....i just did a fuel pressure test all seemed fine...is it my fuel pump?

How did you perform your fuel pressure test? And what were your results? If you can't hear your fuel pump that's a good indicator it might have gone out.

i hooked it up to the fuel rail. it showed bout 47lbs. i also went to relive pressure from the system to change the filter as doing so i unplugged the pump, and started the car, it basically starved for fuel and it shut off like i wanted. well i couldnt get it done cause of rain. so i put all back together and fuel pump kicked on and it stareted right up. Bout 30 min later i went to start it and nothing this is still where it sits in a parking lot

ok so after going in depth with the problem i replaced the ecu. it ran absolutly perfect and bout 5 min later it died again. got it into shop and it started and was sounding horrible like bout to died missing then would rev up and level out then do it again then after bout ten mins of watching itself save itself, it finally died. it threw a code up for something to do with crankshaft or camshaft sensorr? idk i guess in a bit im gonna check the sensors? ideas thanks
