need help figuring out what tune software i have

i just got a 2g talon it has a chip in it im not sure what software it is but would like to find out because the tune is horrible. i do know its changed because i pulled the ecu just to check and i also found the oem chip in the glove box. i have noticed that it has 2 step and that the check engine light is also a shift light if that helps at all. if someone could please help thanks.

With burnt chips it's hard to say. It could be a company tune/burnt chip or a basic chip that someone burnt in their garage. Trying to track down the tune on a chip is rather impossible unless there is an information sticker on the eprom chip itself.

You'll need to get a chip burner and the proper software to read the rom on the chip to figure out exactly what is setup. Either way, shouldn't matter much at all. Either send it to someone who can check/alter it or toss it and go with the stock eprom until you can afford a tuning solution with logger or have a new chip burned for your tune.

Flash the 98 ecu? Let us know how that goes. As far as I know that 'wasn't possible' that's why many people buy MS or the AFX ECU from howell
