I found out i'm eagint starters because my FWd plate allowsthe startedto move over time.. Wlel i havean oldstarter plate fgroma 6 boilt AWD, and thehosle arenn't "off" really, the justmakethe startr turn toa better angle in relation to the flywheel; and ineedthe cr going,
Anyone ever done this, jhere's a pic with it on the 2Gtrans...
the two dowels are in and the top bell housing bolrs are in perfect alingn in this pic, the same variation iswhen comparing it to the proper 2g AWD plate (wehich i now have)
edit:update I good friend who's got to be the maturest young DSM'er I've ever met brought mea 2g AWD starter plate and I WAS right, you can use a 1g n/t ot 1g turbo AWD to pujt a 6 bolt onto a 2g AWD trans,
The gap talked aobut on the daitiator side is webbed in and cna't let anything into the flywheel area, and the main starter hole is in the EXACTR samespotas the 2g plate, just the starter is rotated which wouldrequire taking about 1/16th an inch from the top of one hole and 1/16th from the bottome of the other to rotate it so the starters opening is in exact relation tothe flywheel
Since i'm pulling the flywheel to do this work anyway, i'm going to go ahead and replace the rear main sleal while i'm at it.
edit#2 forgot to hend send earlier.. trans is out again, flywheeland clutch removed (old ACT is great shapestill
) and i''m woking on th rear main seals and its' housing now
one thing i want to CONFIRM is that the N/T FWD 1g starte plate and the 1g AWD starter plate (both manauls of course) have a plate that will fit the 6 bolt in a 2g swap with 2g AWD trans perfectly with just a slight (1.16th) oblonvged on opposite end of the mounting holse as described above.. I verified this with the flywheel put back on with a cut up bell housing and the 2 g start,it cranked and engaged perfect, I"ll get pics up later as i'm rushing to finish nowl, just needed to cool down and on doc's order am not supposed to be out of bed for 48 hours friom 8 amthis morning
but what can i say
