I drive the 4 speed auto with OD and lately it will not go into 4th gear and when i put OD on it slips out of gear on third gear and just revs, i was wondering whats going on with the car.

All-right, all-right, all-right. Sorry off in my own mind there. Back to the topic on hand, as mentioned above. Check the transmission fluid. Have you had ANY work done to the transmission? How many miles does the vehicle have? Have you ever changed the fluid and/or filter? let's start there.....

i changed my tranny fluid on may 2nd, it has 178000 miles on the car and im not sure if the recent owners replaced it or not. The fluid level is fine. My fourth gear worked before but all of sudden it doesn't go into fourth and i cant really drive on the freeway. I researched about the end clutch but i dont know how to remove my end clutch. The tranny shifts fine and no problems but this. I never changed the filter and had no work on it.

doubleot is talking about the clutches that control the gears to shift inside the case the only way to get to them is to drop the tranny and tear it down to see how bad they are. if you dont know how to rebuild a tranny i wouldnt recommend doing it. it could be your band also that wrappes around everything to make it shift. hard to say tho. i think it will only get worse as it usually does. there is a additive that you can buy to help your clutches inside but i cant remember what it is.

Not true at all. You remove the passenger splash shield and there's a small circular cover held on by about ten or so bolts. Take it out and bam! Those are your end clutches. rebuilding them is easy. Just be patient and take your time to make sure it goes together in the right order. Ipt sells the kit and has instructional videos. Go for it! You can do it!

The one thing I do recommend is doing it soon because the fragmented material from what's left of the clutches can destroy the other clutches. That's what happened to mine...

Also by small I mean a little bigger than your hand.....

Very wrong indeed, it shouldn't take more then about an hour. There's only a few 10mm bolts and a clip that holds in your OD indicator. You only need to remove the passanger side wheel, and its a circle case cover looking thing. You can't miss it. Check out the instructional video's on IPT and you'll be fine. The kit was only 105$ shipped.

Good luck. Also, I would recommend dropping your trans pan and changing the filter and cleaning the magnets inside your pan, especially if they have never been cleaned.
