I have one day (tomorrow) to get my car passed..I have tried unsuccessfully 3 times to pass the vehicle the first time the computer unit wasn't reset the readings were BARELY off...the 2nd time the ECU got reset because of a battery swap...and I used G2P emissions passer..with even worse results.

Unfortunately the ECU got reset AGAIN when I found out this new battery was defective..I drove it around again today waiting for the Check Engine light to come back on (faulty O2 Sensor) and I tried a 3rd time to get the vehicle to pass..tried the emissions passer crap again..with better results...HC(ppm) was only off by a few points..but CO% has nearly DOUBLED since I first did the test...the only difference between the first one and the last two is that the computer unit was still adjusting.

Here are my results:

HIGH SPEED
CO% HC(ppm)
Standard 1.20 Standard 220
Reading 4.44 Reading 190
Deviation 3.24 (FAILED) Deviation 30 (PASSED)

IDLE

HC(ppm) CO%
Standard 220 Standard 1.20
Reading 313 Reading 3.15
Deviation -93 (FAILED) Deviation -1.95 (FAILED)

Any suggestions would be great in how to get this sucker to pass..I know replacing the O2 sensor would be best but I cannot do it right now. Thanks for any suggestions ahead of time.

First you have to understand the readings. HC is raw fuel CO is partially burt fuel. If your HC readings are high it is unburnt fuel going out the tailpipe. this can be caused by a misfire or anything that lets fuel through the motor without being burnt. If your CO readings are high your car is running too rich. 90% of the time high CO readings are caused by a bad O2 sensor on a fuel injected car as this is the ECU feedback for running too rich or too lean. You should replace the o2 and make sure you drive the car til it's fully warmed up. When you get to the emission station don't wait in line,if there are cars waiting keep driving and come back to see if the line has went down. If you do get stuck in line keep the car running and rev it to 2000RPM this will keep the convertor up to tempature. If it fails the station should rev it up to precondition the convertor but sometimes they don't.
