Hey guys sorry if this is in the wrong section. Ive been stressing really bad with my car but to sum things up...

I paid a mechanic $1600 to replace my transmission and fix all other problems with my car, he gave me a bad transmission and never fixed anything else. He drained my oil and wanted to charge me again for the transmission he got from a junkyard. Ever since I got the car back its been problem after problem. I fixed somethings but Im still stressing on some.

I have a 95 eclipse gs with an automatic transmission. The RPMS when idle keep going from 1,000 to 800 not sure if that's normal or not but when RPMS go to 800 it sounds like my cold air intake is gasping for air and causing my car to stall out.

Also my car can-not be driving in wet weather im not sure if its because its so low or cause i need an alignment or cause i need to replace one of the control arms but its swears really bad. Any idea's? Ill add pictures and videos so you guys can see what im talking about.

All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys :banghead:

If its that low and has bald tires you asking to hydroplain if thats what you mean. As for the idle problem, I would double check and make sure all your vacuum lines are hooked up and not cracked and leaking too.

All tires are brand new. I think it might be the control arm to make it swerve when wet cause it wobbles the same way when making a right turn ( bad control on is on the passenger side ) I could be wrong. I'll look into the hoses and stuff tomorrow. Ive been doing a lot of searching around and think the stalling/gasping for air is maybe a dirty idle air intake valve

could be lots of problems here. what did you do to lower your car? and was it done properly? when it wobbles do you feel it through the car or steering wheel? could be a tie rod or cv axle going out. if you put lowering springs on and no camber kit that will make your car feel weird because its way out of alignment. for the idle it could be your egr or iac. you can clean both of the springs out on the sensors and see if it helps. with a cold air intake you will hear it "gasp" for air thats usually normal, its just pulling in air through the filter. but there is a difference betweeen the gasp and a vacuum leak. do you have a short ram or an actual cold air intake? when its wet or raining i put a short ram on so i dont have the chance of sucking up water. as far as the mechanic goes you shouldnt of had to pay more if the first trans was bad unless you brought it to him. he should stand up to his work. tell him you will call the bbb and report him for doing shady bussiness if it comes down to that. 1600 max on a r/r for a trans especially a stock trans.

Take it to a different shop and report this guy. Im going to assume your not mechanically inclined, thus why you took it to a shop. If this is the case, id suggest just taking it to another shop unfortunately.. it sounds like you have many issues..some very serious like the suspension.. its hard for us to E-diagnose and explain how to check/verify/fix.. as the idle issues could be a number of things, as could the suspensions issue. Where did you find the original mechanic? Craig s list? Id chalk this up as a lesson for going to shops. IMo... it suxs there are shady ones out there. thats my .02

Jack up the car and check for play in the wheels. That will help narrow down your problem. Then hop underneath and start wiggling things till you find what's loose or worn. Better luck on finding a 'real' mechanic

It was lowered from when i bought it. The kid cut the springs witch was dumb in the first place. I haven't had the money to get it done right cause of all the money I had to pay out. As for the first mechanic im in the process of going through court with this im just waiting to hear but from them. The car only wobbles, you cant feel it in the wheel. Sorry its a short ram intake. I cleaned the iac this morning and it was real dirty so im hoping that solves the problem.

Hey man. Your right i dont know much about cars but i am learning. I have found another shop its just money is tight cause of christmas but im hoping to have the money again soon to have it all checked out. I was recommended the mechanic by my sister in-law. shes was good friends with him until the stuff he pulled with me. He wont give me receipts on the work he did nor the parts he said he had to buy for my car. I just hope the court puts him in his place. You are right about shady people but you cant tell them about until you take the chance. Trust me I wish i knew everything about cars so I can do everything myself and make sure it gets done right.

It has nothing to do with a real mechanic it had to do with people that aint in it for just money. You can call 90% of the customers and they can say the shop does amazing work and the the other 10% will disagree. It all depends on who they think they can pull a fast one on and do a shitty job and still get paid.

I hate B.S. mechanics and techs. You know that it's shady when he won't give you an RO on your work. Terrible. I stick with one good mechanic, and that's it.

Let me know what kind of suspension you are looking at. I wish I could have been in a group buy or something. I need to buy a set up now.

Hey man as of right now i bought a slightly used set of struts on ebay so ill be adding those for the winter then I will have the car lowered right and professionally.

Hey guys im very aggravated right now. I went out shopping and my car was running fine, on my way home its been acting very Fd up. As soon as a take my foot of the gas my car drops to 100rpm and then stalls, when it stalls in wont start up unless i keep pressing the gas but then i need to gun it so it wont stall. My guess is the fuel filter or maybe the idle control valve.

All help is greatly appreciated Thanks.

Who knows it maybe fuel pump. As far as fishtailin in the rain I bought nice coilovers and it lowered my car alot did the same thing as yours, did the washer camber kit fix and have no problems. Take a look at your back tires, they look like this "/ \". Not much traction there.

Yooo, you still go to bunker hill? Man you should try my mechanic, Bruce Kwartler is the man when it comes to DSMs he is super reasonable and he does excellent work!

My back tires are like / \ HTH can you tell from the pics or were you telling me to check that. I didnt kow if thats how it was suppose to be or if something was wrong with it. For the fuel pump would it just go just like that? im not sure if its the same reason or not but one in awhile my cars stalled on me and would try stalling at stop signs and lights. Sometimes i can go months before it did it, but when it died it would always start right back up.

Hey man not sure if this was meant for me or not but ive never been to bunker hill.

I have the same issue as you with the steering
Had a bad control arm changed it little issue
If i hold the steering wheel strait on a dry road i feel it jerk left in a few seconds, then in a few more seconds will jerk right.

On wet/snow/damp roads steering is off the wall, you hit a puddle, ice, anything slick and you just crapped your pants, my rear tires are / \ as well and brand new, the front tires are more strait, but I did notice that the right front passenger tire is closer to the door then the drivers, really driving me crazy, and keep tossing parts, money at it to figure it out. So far replaced tie rods "outer" cv axles, lower control arms.
