Hey everyone. Back in October of last year I was on here asking whether or not a 93 GSX for $650 was a good deal. Well I'm going to look at the car again tomorrow and see it I can get it to start. If so, I'm trading my pistol straight across for it. Anyway, the turbo seals are bad and it's spitting oil into the exhaust. What's the best bet for a completely stock GSX? Rebuild the 14b? Upgrade to a 16g? Find a used 14b? What else would I need to safely run a 16g on a stock GSX? Where is a good place to shop for turbos? Where can they be had used for cheaper than retail? Thanks for the help

find a used 14b unless your comfortable rebuilding a turbo. You can run the 16g up to 10-13psi. any more and you will need a bigger fuel pump, injectors, and a tuning device.

If you run the 16g you will need to feed it with oil from the head and a j-pipe

Where can I get a rebuild kit? My friend has rebuilt many turbos and agreed to do the work if I got the stuff to rebuild it.

trader greg kit is nice IMO. I have used it on 2 turbos and I got a kit from the Turbo lab guys in TX. The kit was good cause it had that upgraded thrust plate and thrust collar. Other then that I wasn't impressed it was opened and parts where dirty. Id go with Trader Greg. You have to reuse one part when doing the14b since the wheel is flat and the kits come with superback style oil deflectors

The collar isnt what i was talking about. its the oil shield/deflector where the comp wheel sits in the CHRA.

MHI EvoIII16g all the way. Unless your turbo is blown to bits, it should be easily convertable by any reputable turbo builder.

This turbo can be run on wastgate pressure (8-10psi) on a stock 4g63 car with no ill issues. When properly supported, its has been proven to flow 40lbs/min @20+psi and shall I say, an easy 12sec. qtr mile?
