I'm building an 97 Eclipse GSX up for racing. I want it to run fast drag times, and be able to hold its on on the streets. I need advice on the exhaust manifold, O2 sensor, down pipes and cat back exhaust upgrades. this is what i'm at now.

Forced Performance Race Exhaust Manifold - i'm choosing this one over the EVO III that i originally intended. Ive found out that this one is a direct replacement for 90-99 DSM eclipse. and does not require any modifications to exhaust for installation. which is good, ### i don't want to do a lot of welding or anything myself. MSRP: $275.00

Thermal R&D Exhaust System - i choose this one bc it is a full 3 inch exhaust, with a 4 inch tip. I origianlly had the Apexi GT exhaust, but it came to my attention that it wasn't a true 3 inch exhaust. MSRP: $580.00

Megan Racing Downpipe - i'm choosing this one bc for my AWD car, its a 3 inch pipe and is a cat delete pipe. MSRP: $229.00

O2 housing-- i still havn't been able to find a O2 housing that will work perfectly with my set up. open to all suggestions.

Just fyi for everyone. I plan on using a garrett GT35R single turbo on this car. its gonna prob run a 100 shot of nos. i also want to have the water sprayer/nos sprayer injection on the intercooler to keep it the intercooler cooler. i read that they did that on an STI and it keep the engine temendously cooler.

all suggestions and 2 cents appreciated. also... if you suggest a piece... ### state why u choose that piece, as i am still learning about the import aftermarket world.

Looks like someone has actually put some effort into searching before they ask a question :thumb:

I'd say your on pretty good track yourself. If you want to stick to a Mitsu style "bolt-on" housing, the FP mani is defently the best choice. The one question to ask, since your swapping all the parts anyways (& I know others will ask), have you though about just going to a T3 turbo setup? Since your getting all new pieces anyways, the cost difference isn't that much & this allows a much larger selection of turbos in the future (plus more "powerful" options (yes with todays turbo's you can defently still go fast in a Mitsu flanged turbo)). Alot of vendors now offer T3 (or even T4) bolt on solutions, so its not like you need to get custom parts made, which was something you had to do, even only a couple years back.

The Thermal system seems to be a great system (don't have personal experience) but everyone seems to give it the thums up. Only thing is it does look abit "fart canish", so if cops are an issue in your area may want something abit more stockish. To go that route, I'd recommend a custom setup as the current ones on the market that are stock looking aren't designed for best performance.

Megan Racing DP, actually just picked one up myself. The stainless isn't as thick as the rest of my custom system (16 gauge) but it should do the trick & for the price, don't think it can be beat. Haven't heard anything bad on them either, other then the origional fitment issues, which have long since changed.

For O2 housings, just start checking out vendors on this site. Alot of them offer different version depending on exactly what your looking for (internal, external, dump tube, recirculate, gate choice, etc)

i was debating about goin for a t3/t4 set up. I really don't know what would be better for the GT35R Turbo that i want. Should i get the FP exhaust manifold..... Megan Racing T3 Exhaust Manifold (i don't know to much about this manifold tho...) .... or would the DN Performance T3/T4 Tubular Header be better.

What i'm wanting to do when i start working on my car... is upgrade all these parts first. so i would want a manifold that can be used with the stock t-28, that way i can upgrade everything before i slap on that expensive turbo. any suggestions there?

Find an Apexi Dunk even though they are discontinued because they sound amazing with a test pipe.

Agreed, the megan downpipe works great for the price. I have it installed on my car and have no complaints whatsoever. Its an easy install as well.
Although I had the 3" HKS carbon exhaust and the downpipe is actually larger in diameter and you can make it fit to a 3" exhaust with a simple gasket, but air flow is reduced, so I would reccomend having someone, or if you are able to, weld the downpipe to the exhaust so the downpipe easily tapers into the exhaust and air flow isn't obstructed.
