I think you should get a TSi or TSi-AWD. Why don't you want a turbo?

Odd, I don't think he asked or mentioned anything about a new car..? Do you?

It's not too bad. When you get struts go ahead and get springs to make the drop complete. Do some research on some combinations people use to find out what would best suit your desires.

Cold Air Intake is another good investment, you may feel pressured to buy the expensive AEM or Injen ones, don't. It's just a name. Buy an Ebay CAI for our application, and slap a K&N filter on and you're set.

Stick with your stock intake manifold. Get a bigger throttle body, around 55mm, and have the plenuum ported to match.

Rear camber kit will be needed when you drop the car, especially if you go more than 1.5".

One thing you missed was a lightened crank pulley. Bar none it's one of the best, "bang for your buck" mods you can do to the 420a motor.

I don't think a CAI, headers, or the intake are a good idea if you plan to turbo it on down the road. To me, those parts are a waste of money. However, nothing wrong with a good suspension set-up. I say go ahead with a KYB or Tockico + Eibach spring set. There is a guy selling legit kits on ebay for a great price

thanks guys i really appreciate it
the reason im not getting turbo is because it would be my first car and i just want to get the feel of driving for a while.
the only talon i see for sale in my area is an ESI and it already has the stuff i listed. just wondering if it was good.
thanks again guys

if you did want a a turbo dsm there are plenty around northern virginia. In fact there is a spyder for sale just down the road for me. unsure if it is a turbo or not but i could check it out for you if you want. i mean 3 hours is a far drive for a car. i live in alexandria and i know the beach can be a trip. but in my experience i bought my car about 2 hours away and drove it home and i think it was a good drive to get to know the car and get some hours in behind the wheel.

do you have the link the the ebay auction?

I'd recommend waiting and buying a stock one. A car that is already modded has more than likely been beaten on. Buying a n/t is probably a good idea for a first car, but I bet within a couple months of driving it you'll want the power the 4g63 is capable of.

Choose wisely. I suggest you test drive both non-turbo and turbo models before making a decision. If you are happy with a non-turbo, go for it. If you have any aspirations about making more power, it's best to get a turbo car to start with, and the price diference is only few hundred dollars between a GS and a GST.

I agree 100% Very good advice.

Since you want the n/t as a first car to get use to driving I personally would say its a good choice...not one that I made but thats just me. In my personal opinion I would say get a TSi AWD and put a MBC on and boost little to none in order to get use to it, then you can turn it up, because the power bug will hit you sooner or later with our beloved DSMs, so why not have the ability to put some good #s down.

Being as it is your first car, chances are you will end up wrecking it anyways. I went through 2 cars when I was 16 and I was one of the best drivers in my circle of friends. You can buy this car and try your best not to wreck it but in a year or 2, you will want to turbo it. I would not even bother with a modded 420a unless you plan to get rid of it in a year or 2 and get a turbo one. I made the mistake of buying a 420a and then wanting to turbo it. Instead of selling it like I should have...I bought a turbo for it and have put thousands into it since just to gain as much horsepower as I could have gotten in a 4G63. I regret it everyday but am too far into it to get rid of it. I am currently working on a 1g 4G63 and quitting on my turbo 420a. Its just not an engine built for speed. It will be a good first car but do not try or expect to go fast because it will not.

also one other reason for n/t - my dad wont let me LOL
i probably wont have it too long because what i really want is a s13 fastback but there arent many around and im tired of looking.
thanks for all the help.
