Necesitties for a good tune...

So I don't know much about tuning so I was thinking about taking my project to a reputable shop to have it tuned for me. i noticed a lot of you guys do your own tuning but I dont think that's the route I want to go. My question is this:

What would I need to buy to take it to a shop and have a successful tune?
Such as engine management system?
Data logger?

If you have no bolt ons then there's really no point in performing any tuning. The most you could do is turn up the boost by a bit, but to ensure that you're not running in the danger zone when it comes to the stock fuel system, you'd at least need a logger, a boost controller and an aftermarket boost gauge to tell you what's happening.

I'm not sure where you want to go with this car, but tuning is an integral part of understanding how things work. Variables will continually change and you'll need to learn how to deal with those changes (temperature, fuel quality, timing, boost level, knock, etc). I would strongly suggest that you decide what your goals are and then we can help you map out a strategy and help you get started on the tuning end. In stock trim, enjoy it for what it is, but when you start to modify, the tune is everything.

Depending on the route you want to go, have a look at some of the cars on the site that run times close to what you're looking for and analyze their mod lists. Understand that more is not always better and that throwing more parts at a car won't necessarily make it go faster. Also, do some searches on the S-AFC, DSM Link, EPROM ECU (KeyDiver Chip) and AEM EMS. In addition to a logger, those are an integral part of your tuning solution.
