nasty engine noise....

i need some help!!! my 94 eclipse makes this nasty noise which comes from the heads? it always happens when the engine is cold. i changed the downpipe cause the stock one had a whole. i thought the noise came from that. when ever i rev the engine it sounds like if there is some kind of leak. if anyone has or had the same problem. can ya please send me feedback. i really hate that nasty noise. heeeeeeeeeellllppp!!!!

you talking about "lifter tick"? or "phantom knock"...they are the same thing.. it comes from the heads, mine does it too when its cold and idling, but when i drive it, it wont do it, i do have a belt noise though, i think its the alternator one, it squeaks a little bit, i spose i'll replace that and the rest of them and get them properly tensioned when i hit 60,000 miles.. i also figured out why my Air Conditioning doesnt work, i dont have a belt there!! no wonder i was sweating my ass off in my car all the time haha... i know.. i am off topic now, but i mean if its not like a violent knock, and your car runs like ass, then its probably just lifter tick.. most cars do it, you can try a thicker oil to stop it.. but anyways, i hope i helped... post back if its something that you think is more severe than that, because i'd hate to have someone blow something like this off because of what someone said on a forum.

whoops...i forgot to look at your car, im not sure if the 420a has lifter tick or not? ive only been on the dsm scene for a few months now..
