Hi guys,

I'm looking for a EASY way to tune my 1G DSM...
E85 maps and a 14B Turbo on my stock EUDM 4G63 are planed. So I have to readjust injector sizes and to modify the fuel and ignition maps...

I saw some demo videos of the ECMlink and they look very nice.
But a guy of the German DSM community told me that the EVO8 ECU would be much better...

So what's your opinion? ECMlink V3 or an EVO ECU?

Greetings,

Sören

EVO8.

Harder to get setup. It doesn't have a huge support base like dsm link.

If you want more info on the evo ecu search for an article on EVOLUTIONM.NET, They have a huge article on setting it up in a 1g. And there are good articles on how to tune with it.

But my vote is for the EVO 8 ECU anyways.

You can. It is not plug&play. But it is possible. Like I said there is a huge article on evolutionm.net about it. Several have done it. One guy there "OXDEAD" is extremely knowledgeable on the subject. I myself am working on it, however i suck at soldering so my wiring harness went to shit.

I just noticed this...

Are we talking about a 1g 4g63t or not.

My eclipse is a EUDM GS.

So its a 150 HP 4G63 NON turbo with a compression ratio of 10,4 to 1...

I want to boost it with a stock 14B Turbo of a GST. (I already have the turbo, headers ect.) But to boost the engine and use normal octane 95 fuel isn't a good idea because so compression is far to high.

Some guys overe here have managed to get a stable 200HP setup by using octane 97 or octane 100 premium fuel. Thats not realy impressive for a turbocharged engine. And premium fuel is also very expensive over here. You have to pay about 8 US$ per galon for octane 97 fuel... octane 100 is even more expensive...

My idea is using E85 (it's about octane 110-115) so I can do a little more of boost. (Aiming for 230-250 HP) And E85 is much cheaper... (about 4,6 US$ per galon) so it's a "win-win" situation.

I'm sure that you can use an EVO8 ECU in a 1G... the guy I was talking about drives one in his GST... But you have to do some work on the wireing-harness.

But I don't know if the EVO ECU is far to complicated... maybe the ECMlink V3 or V3 lite is good enough for my poject...

I "only" have to build new fuel maps, ignition maps, fuel trim and MAF maps... and the ability to switch the maps would be greatfull. (to switch from an E85 setup to an octane 97 setup...)

btw. (Off Topic) are 450ccm injectors big enough to handle a 14B turbo AND E85?

I hope you can understand me... my English isn't perfect :D:D

Sören

ECMLink is proven. No need to hack your harness, just get an eprom ECU (unless your is already).

Yeah. You should probably stick to the dsmlink. When the evo ecu goes in a 1g it is normally a 4g63t 1g. I don't know if it would be the best choice on a no-turbo engine.

you also need to base your compression ratio off of your altitude, i know that me being about a mile from sea level i lose 1.23 to 1.28:1 in compression, also E85 takes 30% more in volume then fuel. if you go low boost, re-wired pump with a 190, and some 850 injectors. correct me if in wrong.

there are also meny websites that will help you with most of the conversion factors.

i would go with V3 lite, should be all you need for your setup at this point.

Give the Evo 8 some time for the 1g, someone here in Tampa is working to make it work on the 1g, with the 1g harness.

Thanks for your replies!

Okay I think the ECMlink will be the better option for me.

But I have some questions:

1. In the order I have to choice a injector size... is there the option of chanfe this choise later in the tuning tool? (because I whant to drive 450 first... an with the turbo maybe I will need bigger injectors...)

2. How often can the ECU flashed? If I buy the light Edition there is no option of switching the fuel or ifnition maps... so if I have to drive on premium fuel instad of E85 I have to load a different setup manualy... I think a "normal" EEPROM doe's about 500 to 1000 changes... Is there a simular limit at the ECMlink? (should I buy the non lite?)

3. How importand is it to use a wideband o2 sensor?
