alright here is what i am trying to get put together. I thought about buying a gst or maybe even an evo but i really want my car to be more of a weekend/ play toy...I dont want to have to drive it everyday and i would be in that position if i bought one of those. Im going to pick up a 420A short block this weekend. Its going to take me awhile but my plan is wiseco pistons bore +.40...im not sure if i should go with the 8:8:1 or the 10:5:1...maybe somebody could help educate me what would be more effective for an engine that is going to try an make as much power as possible while staying N/A maybe ALIL spray but nothing more that a 50.

I believe im going with ACL race bearings, a cometic headgasket, and ARP studs...unless someone would like to offer up a better option.

cam wise i believe im going to go with a crower stage 3 254/250..im kinda trying to decide between those or a 241/241. I want to get the most bang for my buck and wouldnt mind some lope at idle but i also wanna still be able to drive it on the street and keep tires underneath it

I guess what im really not sure about is what i will need to do head wise. 3 angle valves? ugpraded springs? any help here would be great.
ported/polished and matched IM and TB, just dont know what mm TB would be the best to go with..

Havent decided on a brand of header or exhaust yet but any help here is good too

Do i need to upgrade the oil pump and go to a bigger radiator? Is there anybody in here with anything remotely close to this setup that can tell me the kinda power to expect? I have really been ready for a turbo car for awhile and have done alot of reading on it but I realized that i want something more original, and with all the evos and subies running around here a juiced up n/a beast that could be close to the same league would be much more impressive. Plus my car is almost paid off and by the time i go out and buy a GST or an evo ill have dropped this much money into having another stock car with god knows what lil suprises waiting up its sleeves. money is an object of course but time is not, i can take aslong and save as much as i need to but id rather have it done, in and running in less than a year...Thanks in advance to anybody who can help and sorry this has been so long winded.:D

i almost forgot, i need some suggestions on injector sizing and fuel pump upgrades. plus anything else you see that i may have missed including how the stock n/t axles due with something like this and if a tranny upgrade will be needed in my near future...clutches? anything and everything helps so lets hear it

If you're staying NA, you don't want to drop your compression. 8.8's without some form of power adder is going to be a real dog. Forged pistons in the stock compression ratio (9.6:1 IIRC) are available, although 10.5:1 or even 12:1 could be beneficial, depending on how you plan on tuning your car. An OEM oil pump should be sufficient for that build. You only really need a high volume pump for a forced induction application. Stage 3 cams are going to require upgraded valve springs, and it couldn't hurt to upgrade to 2.7l lifters/followers.

As far as throttle bodies go I only no of one company that makes them and its only a 60mm. The web site is MPx 60mm Throttle Body 95-99 Neon / 95-99 Eclipse NA. I might go with the smaller cams the 241 and if you want to stay close with evos and subie the you will need a good tuner program or ecu to tune it. if you tune it to get that much power out of an NA then it will hardly be street able any more.

While you can toast many stock turbocars with a well built 2gNT, don't expect to much more beyond that without nitrous or forced induction.

The strongest and fastest NA 2gnt, ever: View Profile: bullettdsm - DSMtuners.com

See his vehicle profile for fast NA. His race car would not make for a very good DD, or even (IMO) a good weekend toy. It barely idles.

+1 - you're going to have a more drivable car if you build it around a turbocharger.

The way these cars are with knock, I'm tempted to try 12.1 (or 12.5) with 93 pump. With MSnS (absolutely necessary for any real power change with heavy mods), I think you can do it (but then I haven't so I'm just making an educated guess). 10.5 is plenty safe. I like JE's.

As for cams, I would suggest (if you can put up with laggy down low and goofy idle) the Crower 3/4 street cam (edit: I tried to find the 3/4 street cam and couldn't come up with it. Its possible that the 3/4 street is no longer available). You will want springs with that. I suggest the crower springs. I'm running the full race cam right now with extra overlap, so idle is, well, lets just say I've never raced at idle so I don't care.

With that you will need to run an IM (of some sort) and a bigger TB (I would recommend the 60mm from Modern performance). Best intake mani I have found on the market is the one that Mike (all_motor_mike on this board) makes. With that you will need to do some porting of the head (I would also go with a 5 angle valve job).

Lightened flywheel, UDP, SBC clutch, Quaife in the diff.

That'll get you started

wow thanks for the help guys...stock subies and evos are my target..I live 5 miles from an airforce base i and swear that they must be standard issue...there are a ton of them around here...but i guess thats good if i decide to get buy one...airmen get shipped somewhere different and they practically give them away...I would like to keep it streetable even just as a weekend toy...it may require me to scale back some it seems....im going to run 93 because that is the best i can get around here...no E85 and no 100 race fuel that i have ever seen but im sure its somewhere...i like the 5 angle valve job...kinda still unsure on the management system...msns specs/suggestions...hows the tranny going to hold up to this? logging most of these ideas for later as its going to take me awhile just to build the motor...its going to be a fun weekend project that im going to take my time with and get it set up exactly how i want...fuel pump suggestions? thanks for all the help guys this got alot more attention than i thought it would...keep it up coming i appreciate all of it and im taking all of it into consideration
