So I picked up an extremely clean 92 eclipse for free. It bent the valves and destroyed the pistons but the block is still good. So from what ive searched is the following actually true:

- The blocks are similar, except they lack oil squirters
- n/a 4g63's have the 1g big rods
- n/a 4g63s have weak pistons, switch them to 1g or 2g pistons
- n/a manifolds flow better than the turbo manifolds
- n/a heads are the same, just the exhaust cam is different
- n/a trannies are fine, but turbo trannies are stronger and i will need the flywheel clutch setup for a gst to use the turbo tranny.

Thanks!

The blocks are similar to turbo blocks, except they lack oil squirters - this is absolutely true.

Non-turbo 4G63 engines have the 1G big rods if they are 6-bolt engines; 7-bolt 1G engines have the same rods as 2G 4G63 engines.

Non-turbo 4G63 pistons are not designed to hold up against detonation as well as turbo pistons. There are some members who have succeeded in keeping the non-turbo pistons for a time, but it is highly recommended to use turbo pistons.

I assume you mean intake manifolds. On 1G 4G63 cars, the intake manifolds are the exact same save a couple extra nipples on the turbo models.

The heads are the same. The intake cam is the one that is different.

Non-turbo transmissions have weaker gears and are not recommended for a turbo setup. Yes, you will need the turbo flywheel and clutch kit if you plan to run a turbo transmission.
