1991 Eclipse 2.0NT
Purchased the car put together, was a pile of parts before I got it. It has a 6bolt block, turbo trans & flywheel. I have put in a new clutch and inspected the flywheel, so issues. The motor has a new head, and the timing belt appears to be new.
I know a typical mod to the 4g63 is to remove the balance shafts, but how much vibration is normal, and when does it come in? I can't seem to find any information on "normal" vibrations after balance shaft removal.
I personally get vibrations that increase with engine speed starting at 2750RPM to redline. This makes me think that it is the balance shafts (or lack of if the previous owner removed them). The vibrations don't make the car feel like it's going to rattle apart, but they are enough to vibrate a few loose panels in the car. Going 70MPH (about 3k RPM) the vibration seems to not have a "smooth" hum, it varies.
I just replaced the pass axle, both ball joints, tie rod ends and had an alignment, checked the hub bearings and checked the motor mounts, and they are all good. I know it isn't a chassis issue because it also does it if I am not moving. It is exactly the same with the clutch disenguaged also.
Ideas?
