know what I like to do sometimes? When they call, And ask for my Parents, I say, hold on. put them on hold and Watch TV. then come back When my show is over, and ask if there still there. and if they are. I put them on hold agian.

i love talking to telemarketers well if i guy calls i answer his questionsa and all,but then i go an ask stupid qwuestiuons or irrelivant oneas and trey to confuse em,i do this till the telemarketer cdalling me gets pissed and hangs up!

if its a female(a nice sounding one) i listen to thier pitch for a while and then ask em how old they are and what they lookj like,then i get personal and cheeky,i swear i can see em getting all red and embarrased in their call centers:laugh:

we dont use a script, do we say pretty much the same thing every time? most of the time yea...thats based on trying tons of different sayings out and finding which works the best, but i talk to all people differently because all people are different

in a way you are using a script. on every call you say the same exact thing for whatever program you are selling. you dont just call people and say "hey, hows it goin" you have to follow certain guidelines and say certain things so its basically a script. im not saying you cant make up your own thing but even if you do its still a script because you still have to follow the original.

i say stuff like that on every call...you must get boring telemarketers

i love it when people do that, drops my stats and makes it so i dont have to listen to other peoples BS for 30 minutes

just cuz youre not in the phone book doesnt make you immune from telemarketers...like i said we dont go through the phone book picking out names of random people and calling them

And another thing that telemarketers could do to make their -and our- lives more enjoyable: don't play goddamned games with me. Instead of "Can I speak to Mr. Soandso?" and making me grill you to find out why you'd want to speak with ANYONE at this number, let alone a butchered pronunciation of my name, try starting the call with "Hello, I'm calling from Chase Bank, and I would like to make an offer to you".

Hell, I'd listen to some of them just to return the courtesy.

I knew a guy in college who worked as a 911 operator. He used to do that to callers when he was on lunch break because he only got 30 minutes. Imagine, being put on hold by 911!

I've been a telemarketer at MBNA for over a year, it's an ok job and i've actually helped alot of people (i'm the guy that picks up the phone when you call us), but when i used to be the one calling others i felt like a dick, but hell the products actually help some people out. I dont feel like a dick when i get someone off of a 24.98% interest rate credit card and onto one with a 9.99% or less.....and plus i just turned 18 and i'm almost a sophomore in college where the hell else am i going to make $430 a pay check.

Sitting on the side of the road talking to eachother while chowing down on donuts. Then they pull you over for going a ridiculously fast 75mph when the rest of traffic is doing 80-90mph. It's all for the money and they participate in it. They know going 85mph isn't dangerous and they show it through their actions. I've never seen a cop doing the speed limit.

I was a telemarketer but people called ME to activate their Sears Cards.

I made fun of it and ####ed w/ them B4 they f*cked w/ me. We had all kind of fun games that kept us sane...

The job drove me crazy tho, eventually i got myself fired by messin w/ people.

So when I get a call, I make it the most entertaining/unique call they ever had. I know how boring it is so I miz it up and dont piss them off, I always make BOTH me and the Telemarketer laugh.... well when they have a good sense of humor about it

i loathe telemarketers. I'm on the do not call lists. I ask to be placed on them. I tell them politely that i'm not interested. If they call back, i remind them that i can take them to small claims court for $5k per incident (check your municipality on that one though).

If i get more than two calls from the same company in as many days i get very antagonistic and angry. for instance, at&t. Last summer they called me seven days in a row. Each time i politely declined and mentioned that i already had a cell phone (FROM THEM) and that i wasn't interested, and to please not call me again. Time #7:

at&t: "hi, i'd like to interest you in some long distance"
me: "do you have a record of how many times your company has called me lately"
at&t: "<pause>... well, yes i do."
me: "then why the fsck when i wouldn't order it the last six times are you calling me again?!?"
at&t: "i don't ahve to tolerate that language sir"
me: "the sooner you fsckers stop harrassing me the better"

it's also illegal to call cell phones. Apparently my number was once not a cell, and i sometimes get calls. I don't even listen to the first word, i hang up. My minutes are to valuable to waste my time.

For those of you who dislike telemarketing calls, realize that the reason that telemarketers exist, is the same reason spam exists. No one would pay to have that service performed if it didn't work!

So don't order from a telemarketer, no matter how good the deal. You're perpetuating the cycle.

There was a law that was just changed that all telemarketers have to show their phone numbers now on Caller ID boxes. So if you get mutiple calls from one place, you can have proof and take them to court. You can also call them back and harrass them

for the record to actually get on the DNC list within a company (you ask them to not call again) it normally takes 10 days til its actually in there so youll proly get calls in that time, that is if the person actually puts you on the list
