Hey all dsmers I am right fresh on this autoslalom. The first thing I noticed is that this car doesn't turn when your on the gas, I know one of my control arm bushings is soft, could this cause it not to turn well? Also what would be the best cheapest tire to run for a mainly street some drag and now some autoslam?
I know I suck at this I'll get better

Oh that missing is from a injector clip falling off(its broke)

Anyone out there? Is there anyone out there that would like to talk about autoslalom? I need some pointers.

Same as autocross south of the border, I believe ? Certainly looks it.

First, you're going too fast into the tighter elements, which is why the car won't turn - in slow, out fast, as opposed to in fast, out dead (or out slow if > 2 wheels).

Next, you're steering to late and too harshly, you're not giving the car time to respond. You have relatively soft suspension so you must give the car more time to respond, that means steering slower and earlier.

Your throttle and brake inputs are too harsh, unsettling the car and not allowing it to work. Smooth your inputs out - imagine an egg under the brake and throttle pedals - squeeze the pedals gently.

A better video would help, say with in-car footage (of the driver) as well. Oh, and a camera on each rear quarter too please :D

Sounds like you need to do more work to your car before driving it like that. LOL

Yes, in Canada autocross is called "autoslalom". We used to call it Solo 2, but I guess the SCCA has that name copyrighted, so it was changed to autoslalom.

To answer your question about tires.... A lot of people rave about the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec's. They'd likely meet your requirements.

Thank you guys for the replies. My driving was terrible! Thanks for the tips. As for those tires that are recommeded I will be looking into them thanks. How much would you be paying for a set of those?
As for upgrading the car would just a front sway bar fix the car up or would i be looking for a complete suspension upgrade?

First off, this video got me pumped.

Second.

Yes starspecs asap. I have them and they are one of the best out there hands down. Also, your car looks like it rides like a caddy. It's bouncing all over the place. Invest in a good set of shocks (koni yellows) or if you want get a full coilover system. Sway bars will help a ton too.

For your first season, I'd hold off on making performance upgrades to the car. Just perform basic maintenance and get a decent set of tires (if you need new ones). You will improve a ton between your first and final events this season just from the gained experience alone. You won't need to upgrade your car to become faster. It'll happen naturally with more seat time. Plus it's better to learn the limits while using a stable platform as opposed chasing a moving target (i.e. improving the performance of the car).

Then, after you've got a full season under your belt and have mastered the basics of performance driving, you can start thinking about how to maximize the performance of the car within the class you choose to run.

Just my 2¢.

Good thoughts Thanks! I actually placed 5th out of 23cars so I really think if I can get some more skill I should be fine and be able to put my 1g caddy in the top 3.
I'll be looking for some tires If some has a set to sell.
