I had my first ride in an SRT-4 the other night and I gotta say....hmmm hell of a car. I like how dodge is going back to the days when they made turbo 4 cylinders like the Spirit RT and late 80s shelby chargers. Not to mention the turbo daytonas. I think the one thing that I like about them the most is the stock exhaust. It may not be that big but..no mufflers and just resonators give it that rally crackle :thumb: . By the way I love the rims on that blue SRT-4....they look like Work Emotions.

I would have to disagree...
Even though an installation manual is a very important resource, we have multiple dsm forums, various faq's, and lots of how-to websites. You are only as resourcefull as you want to be.

Do the dsm turbo kits come with insturction on how to install them? huh???/?///1!!11/?/!?1

My buddy has one with a bigger FMIC, and 3" turbo back. That is it, stock boost and all, and anywhere in second gear he can get on it and it will break loose. That is sick, it pulls really hard. All of the electronics seem to be a downfall to me though. He said he put a boost controller on it, and it threw a CEL. He put a bov on it, and it through a CEL. He raced on the interstate 2 times in a row, pulled over CEL, and the car was idling up and down like he had a horrible vacuum leake. Everything has it ups and downs. They are nice rides though.

Man, you gotta give it to those mopar guys, this is the first and ONLY program in the world that has SOOO much backing from the factory

That is cool and does not surprise me at all!! I still have my Direct Connection Race manual (a shop manual dedicated to performance mods) from my Cuda days, and yes, they had it all figured out! Was a really cool book, and all factory proven. :thumb: :laser:

The SRT-4 is a sick car, and for the money it probably the best bang for the buck out there, IMO (for new cars).

I still will take the talon though, AWD rules.

Does anyone know how reliable the SRT4 is though? I know several people with stock Dodge neons, and they have nothig but bad things to say about them. The told me that random shit just breaks for no reason, there guess was cheap parts. I wonder if the SRT4 is the same?

the srt-4's are not built by the same people that built the neons. The srt people design vipers, the srt-10 trucks, and the 4's. They are much more advanced. I think they will turn out great. Just have to wait a few years and see.

Why is everyone praising the "factory backing"? The staged upgrades void your warranty.

You could get the same things from other companies and end up paying less. :thumb:

i dont care what yall say I really like the way the srt-4's look. if i had the cash I would be all over that car....theres just no reason not to... :thumb:
FWD, Chrysler unreliability.

As far as the rumor of a AWD SRT-4...That's the kind of thing that keeps me up at night.

The countdown has begun.

Staged upgrades from the dealer are for dummys that know nothing.

No its a smart thing to do.... it has been tested to make sure your car wont blow up!

I must agree they do look really nice in the rear view mirror. ;)

just got done putting stage 2 on my friends srt-4

625cc injectors, 3 bar map sensor, new pcm(ecu), some kind of tig sensor, and adjustable wategate.--800 bucks and doesn't viod warrenty becuease its mopar approved.

It boosts 17 pounds now its not bad at all. From a roll. I drove it today after we where done and as everyone said i won't trade my awd for the world.. Torque steer is ### really ###.

But for the money and the warrenty.
I think its a good deal.

factory warranty is NOT the reason the mopar stages are good

Why are they good?

Ethen,(who is the tuner for mopar with the srt4) makes sure you get something good, i have not seen 1 aftermarket company do this as a complete package

What, a turbo package deal with an afc and injectors you think is good enough?

LOL

You should drive any of the staged cars and then come back and rephrase your answers

The reason for factory backing is that the same guys who KNOW the car, know the computer and have acess to MILLION dollar machines are the same guys who agreed to have those resources used to make aftermarket parts, which is AMAZING

The stage 3 srt4 even though it will put down 370whp, will drive like a BRAND NEW CAR, fast as hell, no compromises

I have ridden in a 400whp eclipse with its own "custom mods" and although it was fast, man, i would not wanna have that car, drivability was no where near as good as a factory tuned car

You guys dont get it, its not because of warranties, its because its done right, its proven and there are no compromises, the car runs perfectly, consistantly and reliably, THIS IS WHY

Although i still love my eclipse and i prefer the styling, i wish mitsubishi had a similar program, instead of having to tune my car with an afc, run turbos that arent perfectly designed to go into the cars and have an engine bay look like its been ripped out and put in upside down..LOL...ever look into the engine bay of a stage 3 srt4? LOL, you could never ever tell the difference, i like that

So just wanted to clear that up, the staged upgrades have nothing to do with warranties, this is not the reason they have them....

Very well said! :thumb:

i know, this is obvious, this is what i meant, iw as trying to say that they are not good because some people think they are covered under warranty, ofcourse they arent covered, thats asking too much, LOL

Its the factory backing, its like driving a standard lancer, and trading up to an evo, it doesnt seem like a modified car, but its a hell of alot faster.

Thats the difference between factory backing and doing your own mods.

For people with srt4s, it should be a no brainer, these stages are the only way to go, with 370whp available, why would you go with something aftermarket?

blablabla...when people come up with decent comebacks, its one thing, that one is unfortunately not gonna cut it anymore with an srt4

In response to your comeback for another kid calling an srt-4 a neon... i work as a tech at a mopar dealership and let me tell you, those things are still a neon. They have all the same stupid problems base neons have. Broken window tracks, headlights wont turn on, broken pedals etc.. ive seen it all and i know that kind of stuff happens to most cars, but the exact problems that occur with the base neons happen to the srt4's too. Just because it has a higher performance engine does not mean its a better car  . The car is fast, but i wouldnt spend my money on it personally working with them for a year now. just my .02

Although I do not know much about the SRT-4's, they definately do seem to be one of the best bang for your buck as far as the price for the amount of power it comes from the factory.

Anyways, one of my friends from auto school has an SRT-4 and his best time was a 14.04 BONE STOCK and if I remember correctly they are supposed to run 14 flat from the factory. If I can recall, Bone Stock FWD DSM's run what...low 15's????and didn't they cost over 20k from the lot????

Don't get me wrong....I wouldn't choose an SRT-4 over any turbo DSM but at least give some respect to the SRT-4's....neon or not....
