Alright, so some of you may be following my blogs about my build. If not I will get you up to speed. Im doing an all out build with a 35r setup and the main portion has been weight reduction, I have gone as far as cutting my front end off to seek them extra pounds. Now I have started with the electrical portion of it, since everything under the dash has been eliminated along with ABS and airbags I need to rid of the un-needed wiring. The stock harness just wont be up to my liking so I have decided to build my own. If anybody has done this and knows how to bypass some things please chip in with some info!

Thought I should add, The factory gauge cluster will be removed as I am putting an injection molded dash in. Plan is to remove the entire under hood fuse box harness along with everything under the dash to the rear of the car and start from fresh.

Subscribing to the thread as it's relevant to my interests. Who are you on Facebook?

Alright, I have ordered a 14 circuit fuse block (should be enough) and a bunch of relays. Started figuring out the diagrams and this shouldnt be too bad of a process. While I am waiting for my parts I plan to start on the injection molded dash. Will post pictures as progress is made. I think this is the place to have this thread rather than the build log as I would like to hear some opinions and possibly tips from those who have done it before!

Another option for a fuse/relay panel that would get rid of your need to have individual relays, would be to buy a motorcycle fuse box. Depending on the model, they'd have tons of fuses, and several relays, in a pretty compact package. If you bought a wire harness off a wrecked bike, you could probably even just use the wire directly from the harness to create your new harness.

Are you cutting up your old underdash harness to do this, or are you selling it off?

The fuse panel is actually very small 5"x3" And Im thinking I shouldnt need anymore than 4 relays. I tried cutting up the factory under dash harness but it just isnt a possibility to eliminate as much as I will going this way. Both under dash harness's will be gone along with the under hood fuse box harness.

Make sure you make a electrical schematic to fall back on in the future. If you ever go to sell it, this will be a huge turn off.

I would like to know the weight drop from this new harness. I can't imagine there is much to remove. I think the junction and fuse blocks will be the majority of the difference.

I considered do this a while back, but realized there was hardly anything unused to justify the cost and work. As far as tucking and cleaning up the electrical system, this would be great.

Really it will cut down probably 90% of the wiring mess thats under the dash and hood. Even though I relocated the engine bay fuse box to the interior I still want to get rid of it and only have one fuse panel. And since Im running AEM EMS It just adds to what ill beable to do!

Alright so I started pulling my harnesses apart mainly just to get the plugs I need out of them, but it also helped me figure out how to run some things. Still trying to figure out what all needs to be run off of a relay and what can be run off of a switch only.

Definitely going to be following this thread as I'm doing the same thing. Were you as amazed/disgusted as I was when you saw just how much of that engine bay/body harness was for the ABS?

My car is a non ABS from the factory so its kind of nice not having to deal with it all! What amazes me is how complicated they have to make things.....

Alright, finished my rear harness now, so figured I would post some pictures.
