custom wiring harness for a 2g

has anyone here made a custom wiring harness for there car? i have an extra harness and im thinkin of cutting everything out that is not neccessary and cuting the length down so its not as long. i have my routed other than stock and it is just too long.

i have dsmlink and want to get rid of all emmissions plugs and so on.

I know that a few people have just tossed out the factory harness and made their own from scrath. Save around 50lbs at the same time. I want to do this to my car over the winter but me and electrical don't get along to well.
