Hey, so i just bought a 1999 GSX. This is my first DSM, and after i saw it i knew it was going to be my first tuner car.

It is in need of a new clutch and some other stuff done to it to make it 100% sexy.

I will post pictures later but the FMIC looks like it took quite a beating in its life (bends everywhere on the waves) and I will need to find a new one to buy, I need your help to figure out which one i should go with.

Also what kind of clutch should i go with, my future plans for it will be // stage 3.

Also what kind of clutch should i go with, my future plans for it will be to street race "legally" wink wink, so i am looking for best deals on the parts that will last till i finish stage 3.

For a new clutch, look into Fidanza, Spec, ACT, and Exedy, as they are probably the most common clutches used on our cars.

For a FMIC, try ETS, AMS, RRE, Dejon, DVDTFab, and plenty of others.

As for your plans for the car... we don't do "legal" wink wink street racing here. You're either on a track, or you're not. If you are serious about racing your car on public streets, you'd best find another place to talk about. It's dangerous, and it's a good way to ruin your car, as well as bring legal troubles on yourself that will follow you the rest of your life.

I'll assume you're young and impressionable, so let me tell you that if you stick with your new DSM for a few years, you'll soon learn that there's more to this community and culture than going fast on the street, and that street racing is dangerous, illegal, and not cool.

Welcome to DSMTuners.

Jenkies you guys responded so fast. As far as mods, the car already has a tri pod with all the gauges id ever think id see in a non forumal car. It has a new catback exhaust and new autocross breaks/pads.

As far as the money pit goes, im well aware but love is love and costs money. :D

I was only kidding about the street racing, i live in Chicago which probably has the worst street conditions in America. So id have to use the track if i want to go fast and not break my car.

Thanks again for your fast responces!

Congrats on the purchase! many different items to choose from!

We have had good luck with ACT brand clutches. The 2100 and 2600 are great streetable clutches than can each hold decent amounts of power depending your goals.

more information on those here

Another great FMIC choice for a 2G is the slowboy front mount. Huge core, and very short routed piping at an awesome price.

Can see details and pictures of the front mount here

I will post up pics this weekend. Thanks for all your help, iv decided to go with the ACT 2600, and an AMS FMIC (I like how it says AMS on it) Now i just need to find a better louder BOV

This is a question within a question!?

1) How much are you willing to spend for a FMIC/CLUTCH?

2) Have you started with you basic replacements such as; Fluids, belts, bushings, radiator hoses etc..

3) Have you done a complete Tune-Up?

If you just bought the car an have no Idea on it's wear and tear conditions,
do your self a favor and start with the basics...

BTW, Welcome and congrats on your new purchase of a

"Delivering Speed Machine"

+1 on the ssac front mount, its well worth the money.. its a little cheaper, but works just as good in not better than the competition. That way youll have left over money to put into your clutch and other things.
