I noticed you said the seal was out on your waterpump ? Do you think the heat from welding the AN fitting on killed it ?
no. i bought the pump used from a "buddy" who said it was only used for mock up purposes. i guess thats what happens when you trust people. now everything on the motor is brand new.the guy who welds this shit for me was real careful about overheating the pump. it took him a full day to weld it. hed do a little here and a little there throughout the day so it didnt bust the seal.

that fmic looks sick! I would just leave it open like that on race day if they let you. love the stance on the little beast.

damn good work and the best of luck. please post a vid of the day you fire that thing up for all of us that have been keeping up with this thread.

Did you get that pump from me? If you did I will refund what you paid me for it. I bought the motor with a brand new pump (recipts were with it) and was told it had never been run or had water in it, and thats what I told you. It looked like every other brand new pump I had installed at my shop so I felt completely comfortable selling it. Aluminum transfers heat and that maybe thats what hurt the seal.

Actually, my Sunday afternoon was spent stepping off the clutch at 9500 and drilling the unit. Did I mention it hooks? It was SATURDAY that I spent the afternoon "massaging" the fenderwells to fit. Everything is still in its factory locations though, mister giant tubbed fenderwells. Notice my tires fit in my fenderwells? No Sun Valley rake here buddy. All utilizing my FACTORY STREET CAR suspension, not that crazy Sprint car upside down ladder bar dirt track $hit.

BTW, your bars look like bat wings.

I think I need to move to Nevada. I think there's something in the water there that helps create these bad ass project cars! The progress on your car peregrine has been awesome to watch! I personally check my inbox several times a day hoping you've added a video of the beast running. I'm also really interested in Stock Josh's car and setup as well if he wouldn't mind filling us in. I do have one question. Where are you guys find these old school imports? The only ones I ever find are old, beat to death, rust buckets that aren't worth wasting time on. If I can find them at all. I'm personally looking for a 240Z as a monster build project like peregrine's. If you guys have any tips on where to look I'd appreciate it.

:thumb: x 10 on your project peregrine! I know you've definitely inspired me on starting my old school import project!

First off, so nobody gets the wrong idea, John and I have been freinds for a few years now. We live about 5 minutes from each other. As far as the Reno area goes, John was one of the first import guys. In fact, I think he was the one of the first guys with an import in the 12's (and we live at 5000 feet so its not that easy). This was probably 7 years ago (am I right John?). He had a 1st gen Talon with a 18g. Back in 2000 I bought a 1st gen Eclipse and started off building a 16g car that ran a measly 13.1 at our altitude. In 2003 I ran high 11's in the same car with a 50 trim at our altitude. Not bad. John and I were the local DSM guys with decently fast cars, and we hung out together. Both John and I ended up selling our cars sometime around 2004. My motivation to sell was from the idea that Eclipses are such heavy cars, and if I could make the same power in a lighter car, I'd be running much faster, and be less paranoid about breaking. FWD is not the answer, since you are giving up weight, but aquiring a traction problem, so RWD it had to be. Not being a domestic guy, I wanted to find an import that was RWD. Old school seemed to be the way to go.
How did we find them? We just made an effort to look. I found mine in a feild about an hour from Reno, and Johns was actually parked on the side of the road. After finding the owner of Johns car and talking with him, John was able to buy it from him. We know where quite a few old school cars are, you just have to keep your eyes peeled. We have another buddy with a 77 Colt with a 4G63, he lives in Reno too (screen name TuMuchNOS). John just bought another Colt. All these cars were found right here in town. You just have to look. Get to know what these cars look like (like looking for pics on the net), and you'll start noticing them in no time. Finding a good one is another subject though. Just look at the pics of my car when I bought it (attatched).
BTW, my car is a 1972 Mazda RX3. No DSM stuff anymore, sorry guys. It uses a 12a rotary engine with a Holley carb and nitrous.

yeah me and josh are buds. its funny, my old awd was the reason he got into dsms and now his rx3 is the reason i got the colt. post up some more pics of your car josh. i would but im not sure what pics you want posted. his car is the sickness. hes always downplaying it and saying what a POS it is. i think its the cats pajamas. ROFL

these two guys are my teachers. They walked me through my first DSM motor swap. Josh(StockJosh) his eclipse (11.70's) was the reason i got into DSM's. After watching his car launch and get turned down to race by bikes. I was hooked.

they have walked me through the easy to hard stuff with these cars...

These guys are the coolest dudes around!

Now John get this thing done!!!!

I had one of those, a wagon. God, it was a sweetheart. Nicest transmission ever. And that carb would choke many V-8s.
