well i bought another colt today. its a 78 coupe 4 speed. ive been looking at this one for about 6 months now just sitting in this old ladies yard next to my wifes work. it turns out its a one owner car and its been sitting for four years. her son started it periodically just to keep things lubed i guess. it needs a windshield and i think the valve guides are bad but other than that it runs and drives good. i got it for $300 and i think ill do another turbo motor in it but much less involved. probably along the lines of stock motor, 16g, 550 inj., afc, etc. i can fit an 8" tire on this one so no mini tubbing needed (thank god) so ill get some rims like on the other colt and throw those on there. my son will be driving in 4 years and i think i could have this thing at a reliable 300 horses by that time :sneaky: :rocks:

I reckon you should leave it stock looking including the 13" rims and scare the V8 locals!

I take it rust is not a big drama in Nevada. Its very rare for an old eco-box from the 70's to be that rust-free in Aus. Lucky for you. Let me know if you want some smaller bumper bars for it. Those US spec ones are huge!

hell yeah. i think theyre hidious. rust is not a problem at all here. theres a .5" circle of rust on one part of the car iunder the passenger door that i can take care of myself.

welp, got the intercooler piping done tonight. get this its 50" from turbo outlet to throttle body. can you say quick spool? :D also got my cold air setup done. all the connectors on there will be red instead of blue. i just used these for mock up. the car is a tranny crossmember, a downpipe, a TB flange, and some minor wiring from being started. im totally excited.

small update. i got the tranny crossmember fabbed up and in the car today. it was prety easy. im waiting on my dsmlink stuff. should be here next week and then some minor wiring and its ready to fire. i may a spend a few extra days double checking everything. just to be safe. ive waited this long so i can wait a few extra days. im going in saturday to hopefully finish getting the rear end in. the guy thats doing it has really done a good job fabbing up the brackets and such. ill get some pics of everything this weekend.

How much of the harness from a dsm are you using ? I have a shell that I was going to take the wiring harness out of because I thought there were 2 different harness', but when I went to take it out I figured out its one big harnes.

welp, its ready to fire. i need my silicone couplers but other than that its ready to go. i should be driving this sumbitch in the next couple of weeks.

holy crap batman....that car is awaome...i also can't wait to see the end result of the whole ordeal. :thumb:

small setback. i filled the motor with oil and was filling it with coolant when it started puking coolant out from the water pump. i pulled it all apart and it turns out theres a small hole that my buddy missed when welding it up. oh well. ill get it back together tonight or tomorrow and go from there. i guess it could be much worse. this gives me a chance to check the timing on all the gears for the tenth time :p

well it turns out the seal was done on the water pump. that really f*cking sucks. i had to buy a new water pump, fitting, and have my buddy weld it all together. so now ill probably get the motor together this weekend. heres a pic of how its sitting. still looks pretty

the rear end is held up a little. were waiting on shock mounts from georgia or somewhere like that. as soon as those come in we'll throw the coilovers on and drop it on the ground. heres how it should look. i want a little fender gap. i dont like the totally slammed tubbed look.
