My new 92 gsx 5speed

Even though I have been a mustang freak my whole life I have always admired DSMs and I have been looking for a second car because I put the mustang in storage and I do not like driving my brothers car. I did alot of looking around for a few months driving some pretty rough . I finally came across this one and bought it. Let me know what you guys think I love it. ($3300 just under 190k miles)

I wondered the same I asked the seller and he said the guy before him put them in. I really have no idea thats all he could tell me was the previous owner put in new pistons, must have fubarred one or was having some problems with the rings im not sure.

2g pistons have a higher compression ratio then 1g pistons and are an upgrade.

1g 7.8:1
2g 8.5:1

there is a little bit of machining required to attach 2g pistons to 1g rods. here is a link to a thread with the specs on the machining

thanks bud theres rust about the size of a quarter on the inside of of the rear fender well on each side but other than that its cleannnn. I work for a dealership so I can get a nice discount in our body shop so I will be taking care of that this spring/summer if my wallet permits. been spending too much on tools

Looks good. It looks like your driver headlight is yellowed. Take some Flitz to it and it will look good as new. Nice find!

Believe it or not I use Mothers polish and works better

I know I know, I am on some local forums and I got a bunch of shit for it. Im getting there I need to get another pay check. First things im doing when I get paid...

Oil Change/Filter
Build a boost leak detector
Fix the exterior door handle on drivers side
Put in a new lock cylinder on the hatch
new hatch supports
new upper timing belt cover
and head to the junk yard and see if I can find any small things I might want

Yep, a junk yard is great for little things like timing cover. You'll find a lot of 1g's have bad shocks on the hatch so 1g's at the junkyard are probably the same. But yes junkyards are good times cause you never know what you'll find. Happy Hunting

Very clean car, hopefully it runs as good as it looks You go show your Mustang friends who's boss with that GSX

BTW Are those Chrome windshield wipers, cause if they are you need to throw them away as soon as possible

You need to be carefull I can tell youi from expierence that a dsm can cause mustang neglect!. I bought my gst to drive while I turbo'd my stang and I ended up modding the eclipse and the stang has been pushed to the back burner. But at least it's nice to have 2 cars to drive.

yeah i had a 97 svt supercharged cobra and after i got the first awd turbo i sold it..the car was 550 horse but no GRIP.. so that what a talon or eclipse can do to you and mustangs..

I am glad you appreciate the site and its members efforts to help others. Contribute as much as you can and help make the wheel go round.

That is a clean DSM you found there. Is it a 6/4 combo? Take care of her!

Your mustang project looks to be comming along as well. Keep us posted. Our Gen5 454 block (for our 65 Corvette) will be back from the machine shop in a few days and I am anxious to start assembly. Multiple projects rule.

welcome. i like the GT a lot. i never really got into them until my cousin bought his 96 GT. i heard the 96 mustang GT 4.6 engines only put out around 215hp instead of the rated 260, is that true?
