My Galant VR4 needs a fuel tank....

and they dont make them anymore? my mechanic told me mine was rotted out and on borrowed time and a WHOLE bunch of bolts snapped on it while taking it out....sooo

im thinking fuel cell in the trunk? i dont care about having to pop the trunk to fill up, its just how would i do this and keep the gas gauge working? keep in mind the bolts holding the fuel pump setup in my stock tank are RUSTED and snapped when tried being taken out....i dont wanna sell this car, and i dont have money to fix it at this moment but, i gotta start looking into whats needed to fix this? any ideas? thank you,

Pics of your tank? There's the possibility that something could be done with a DSM tank, but I'm not familiar enough with the Galant VR4 to be able to say "a tank from X car bolts right up, or with little modification". I would think that they would have at least tried to make something off the shelf work because of how small the run of these were.

DSM and VR-4 tanks are way diferent. Won't work.

I picked up my VR-4 with no tank... these cars are VERY hard to find tanks for. No autoparts store makes them , Mitsu sells them, but for over $1000... screw that.

I was lucky enough to get one out of a parted out galant in great shape. I don't know what to tell you other than check the FS section of Galantvr-4.org. Take a look at yours, it may be salvagable.

damn, im starting to realize maybe fuel cell in the trunk may NOT be the way to go if the gas gauge doesnt work....####

How about a used tank off a different Galant? I know the FWD 1G DSM tank is different than an AWD but its a thought. Have you checked out ATL Fuel cells? They have cells that fit in stock positions and I am pretty sure they make custom cells.

tryin to do this on a budget....nothiung to crazy like a custom cell when i can buy a fuel cell for the trunk.
