my friend with a civic/gsr wants to race me

The other day my friend asked me if i wanted to race him for $50 he owns a 92 civic with a swap gsr motor in it. I raced him before and had no prob passing him from a roll and left him around 2 1/2 cars on launch. He drives pretty good and now he just got his vtec controller so i dont know if i should race him. His mods AEM fule rail, intake , full 3" exhaust, he took off his a/c and he took off his power steering. My mods cone filter and all the free mods.

Why don't you just race him? Seems like you're kinda scared if you're coming onto the boards and asking for opinions. Who cares if you lose...are you gonna have to give up a leg or an arm too?

a vtec controller on a gs-r does not make much difference because every after 1st gear b/c the car stays on vtec through out a race
but if he dynoed it to get a smoother fuel curve, that would help him


just race him and lose that way you will get a boost controller

What mods are you running, you should be able to take with with almost nothing anyways.

A bone stock DSM should be able to take a GSR out. Its just a naturally aspirated piece of crap, what are you scared of ? =) If you are REALLY scared, then turn up the boost and destroy that little ricer.

If you race from a roll you are done.

My friend had a 92 hatch with a GS-R motor, and it trapped 97 mph in the quarter with TERRIBLE traction (the track was having a bad night).

I could walk him in my DSM, but it's modded and tuned a lot more than yours is (3", 14b, 550's, MAFT).

A DSM with the free mods and stuff will trap maybe 92-93 mph.

You've got a chance in a shorter race from a stop, but no chance whatsoever from a roll.

Race him from a stop, tell him "thats how they would do it at the track, so its only fair"
