My exhaust questions in ONE thread

when you have a o2 eliminator exhaust system, and u lose the o2 housing, is the car still st. legal? i kno its kinda a dumb ? but im jus makin sure.

Most states say that if you alter even the muffler you are "illegal" anyways, I would say you are safe, only a picky ass mutha of a tech inspector would nail you for that one.

o2 sensors are not easily missed. It is like one of the first things checked in a visual inspection, and I wouldn't remove them if you are worried about passing smog.

Just curious but what state are you in?

I Believe you are getting confused....o2 eliminator style exhaust systems are just tubular o2 housings replacing the factory unit, the stock o2 sensor itself still is utilized in this set up. and screws in (in most) at same or very close location

Pay attention more when you read, he said an 02 eliminator. That means no O2 housing between the turbo and downpipe like stated above. I have an O2 elim. exhaust and the O2 sensor is still there as it is on all O2 eliminators. You have to have it or the motor will not run very well...

What the hell have I been reading? I totally thought that o2 eliminating was putting a resistor in the wiring for the sensor so that it is no longer needed.

i was thinkin about gettin a turbo back exhaust, but then i started thinkin, is this REELY necessary? couldnt i just go with a regular cat back exhaust? or would there be a time later on when i would actually NEED to have a turbo back insteda a cat back?

Turboback you will have to choose one of these....

If you are doing just a few upgrades and nothing BIG then you would be fine with a catback and a "test pipe" or "high flow cat". If your planning larger things with the car then you may want to go ahead spend the extra and get a turboback now.

You will notice more hp gains from a turboback compared to a catback but most name brand catbacks+downpipes are a little "pricey". WWW.rnrracing.com has some nice turbobacks for cheap.
