My engine makes a "crackling" noise when started up cold. What is it?

Hey guys i have been noticing that when ever i start my car i hear this "crackling" noise from inside of my engine. Now, it is not the noise that is heard on the thread with the video below mine. Here is that link.

About after 3-5 seconds the sound will go away by itself without me doing anything (no reving of the engine, no anything). I have checked my turbo for shaft play and there is none. It really sounds like it is coming from inside of the engine. I am really kind of concerned because i don't know if this is a sign of crankwalk or what, but i just would like to find out what it is and how i can fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

I get a crackling sound when starting up cold as well, I think it might be my starter, maybe yours too, i'm going to buy a remanufactured one when I buy the rest of my maintenance stuff, since I put my new exhaust on I can hardly hear it, I almost forgot about it. Not sure if thats what is wrong with yours but just an idea.

Mine does it to I always just wondered if it was because the oil hasn't pumped up to the valves and if they just make a little noise because it just does it for a second. Please let us know about the starter I dont know why it would only do it on cold start if it were the starter though but if you do it please let us know because I have not a clue what else it could be.

Its not gonna be anytime soon, I have about 2 1/2 more months left before I put my car away for the winter and I dont think I am gonna get it done before that, it will most likely be next spring, sorry
