My DSM just gave me a early christmas present !

Well on the way home after about 10 mins of driving I notice my temps climbing to about the 200 range which caught my eye. About 5 minutes later their at 220 so I'm alarmed, I know somethings wrong for my temps to be this high in 15º weather even with my new front mount. Being Christmas eve and only about another 10 mins from my house I continued to baby it home, temps were in the 220-245 range for about 10 minutes. I parked it, popped the hood and noticed my lower rad hose was shooting steam and had finally gone (curse myself for not replacing it sooner after feeling how rubbery 'n gooey it was). So do you think I caused any damage riding in them temps for that long ? I'm pretty pissed ### I'm assuming I caused some damage but hopefully I get some good news. Worst case scenario though what are we looking at ? Temps were recorded through a water temp gauge with the sensor mounted at the top of the t-stat housing.

ehh ## probably going to be pretty safe my mustang would sit at about 260 or so cause the radiator leaked and i didnt always remember to check it. the worst case would be a warped head but i would think ## ok still. fix the hose and if u dont leak from ## head gasket ## fine i would imagine. so theres my attempt for the good news for u

It should be ok, i usually do a compression test after overheating, and change the oil because you never know.

You'll be fine, so long as you don't get that snow camo shit to replace that hose

I would also say the worst would be a head gasket and a warped head, but you should be fine. if every thing checks out ok change your oil as temps that high can burn the malicious.

thats not bad, my buddy picked up a galant, drove it 10 miles without the alt belt. I looked over as conscientious as i can be and was like, holy shit dude, pull over, your at 230. im not sure how long we were driving like that, but we got home changed the oil, rad fluid, flushed, compression test. Everything was sound. Haha, lucked out. He wondered why the turning was so stiff...

All in all, you'll be fine.

Just remember..If the parts looks bad, feels bad, its probably in need of replacement..point being...never hesitate on something as easy as a lower rad hose.
