So I was bored last night and sick of my netbook sliding all over the place. I was looking thru my parts and noticed that the case of a dead 2g ecu I had might be a good candidate to help support my netbook from the glove box! Lined it up made some mods by snipping the flanges, drilled some holes to mount to glove box handle and boom here's what I came up with!

Only thing I'm gonna add is some double sided Velcro so it holds it better and can be removed easily

Does it swivel or something so you can close the glovebox?

nah its static atm, just needed quick solution for the track this weekend. but if i mounted with custom holes and drilled lines so it could be pushed back and forth it could be. i have a friend who is good at fab work, gonna get his opinion on how to make it more functional soon.

I just sit mine in the passenger seat and look at it after the run . If it closed up in the glove box it would be sweet

So after testing it, it was ok, but not closing the glove box was kinda ghey.

So I went back to the drawing board and rummaged through my wife's garage and found and old shoe tree.

It was 2 pipes with a nice 12mm thread that held it to the base... So this is what I came up with for version 2!

Much better LOL!

I just took off the stock 14mm nut holding the rail to the floor and my friend helped me weld it to the open end of the bar!

Then I used a base from an old viewsonic monitor I had (since it's mounted on the wall in my office) drilled a hole for the 12mm hex nut, added some heavy duty 3m locking tape strips and bam, free netbook mount :) I'm going to add a piece of aluminum for the width of the netbook, as of right now it wobbles a tad during hard turns. But other than that it's the shit! Plus it can be removed easily :)

Interesting, I'd add another leg or two (they don't need to bolt down, just be there) to distribute lateral force.
