My clutch engages twice when letting the pedal out

I've had clutch problems since I replaced my OEM unit with a Spec Stage 2+ (I'm sure to no fault of the unit itself).

But now, just recently I've identified some odd behavior.
When I release the clutch pedal from the floor about 2-3inches the clutch is slipping on the flywheel causing the car to slowly lurk forwards.
I can continue to release the clutch another 3 inches or so and nothing changes. The clutch is barely touching its mating surface and barely rotating the flywheel.
Next I let the clutch to the top (I have a good inch or more of free play at the top) and the thing bites like a police dog.

Is this normal operation of aftermarket clutches?
Is this a product of having a clutch that is both a 6 puck and a street disc in one (Spec Stage 2+)?

I'm going to go with not crankwalk at this point in time but thanks for the suggestion.
Maybe call it denial? I dunno.

What would an extended slave rod do for me? I've always avoided them because I feel they are a bandaid fix for what is really just a worn fork/ball. I replaced my fork with the clutch and left the stock ball at the mechanics suggestion as he says he often can reuse semi truck balls with over 300k miles etc so I just left it alone.

And for reference, my clutch fork is sitting square in the middle of its little playground on the underside of my tranny.
