Took my DSM to the local 1/8th mile drag strip on Saturday night and walked away at the end of the night with a 1st place plaque and $100 prize for the AWD Class. Not to bad for my first time at the track and for getting tuned earlier in the day! Best pass of the day was an 8.08 at 95mph with a 1.74 60ft time on 25psi..

Nice work and very impressive! :hellyeah: Was it bracket racing, or heads up?
Best part of the whole thing is that you actually know how to spell tuned. I am so tired of people spelling it "tunned". :|

it was bracket racing, i'm not sure why everyone with AWD cars didnt turn in their slips to race being there was probably 30 Subies there, but there were 5 AWD cars that entered, 1 was actually Buschers old black Evo but he was having some issues with oil / coolant leaking so they booted him, another was a 700hp Subi that sheared an output shaft during the semi finals and I beat a 500hp Evo 9 for the win! I need to hit a dyno to see what kinda power i'm making but closest one is 5 hours away sadly...

I'll have to get out there this summer. Do u get to Omaha much?

not really, I would if i had some people to meet up with and take me to the right places, I just dont know anyone out there so I dont know the scene. Been to the Ice Cream Cruise the last two years but thats about it.

I have the dedication and beer, its the time that I am short on while working 6 days a week, but my list of "too do's" is getting much shorter so I am making progress everyday, be it one bolt or a whole list of things. :thumb:

Well I hit the track again last Friday 6/19/2015, was having issues with spark breaking up around 25lbs of boost before leaving, got down to the track and lowered the gap on my plugs to nearly closed imo .015 and it helped but car was acting really funny, thought it was a boost leak but couldnt locate it so I said f*** it and made a pass anyways.. Ran a 8.7 at 85mph banging and poppin all the way down the track..

At this point I was frustrated that I couldn't find the issue and was going to be done for the night and just enjoy the show but when i heard there was only 4 cars in the running for the AWD class that night and the fastest time was a 7.9 I entered my time and got bracketed up against the Subi that ran the 7.9.

Lined up and launched hard and strong but was breaking up bad about halfway down the track and he passed me.. I ran a 8.5 he ran an 8.01..

I noticed after that last pass my issue was 15x worse than it was before the pass and i was worried about the 1.5 hour trip home with the unknown issue but attempted it anyways.. Car died everytime i stopped, couldn't get it to idle nothing.. but made it home and parked her for the night.

Next day i was determined to find the issue and i decided to check over the manifold, pulled the wrap off of it to find a pretty decent size hole in one of the runners...:notgood:

Purchased a used 2g manifold off a buddy and am going to get it ported nicely, also ordered a new exhaust stud kit and copper gasket from STM today and will have that installed later this week.

I will upload some time slips and got some GoPro footage of my 2 passes also that I will get uploaded for everyone's viewing pleasure :D

hmmm found my vibration LOL ACT 2600 Street disc couldn't take the drag launches.

20150722_184130_zps4jkzs2vt.jpg

going to try out an XTD Stage 4 and see if they are actually as good as everyone says they are

Unfortunate, but on the bright side we risk it every time we slip the clutch on a hard launch, and I'd rather replace clutches than trannys all day haha. How long did the ACT hold up? It's what I have as well and I have no complaints yet with 20K miles
Good luck on the new clutch install.

Good luck on the new clutch install.

I had ~15k miles on this and just started making drag passes a couple months ago, maybe had 10 hard launches on it within the last 2k miles.

Being a street disc it just couldn't take the abuse i'm somewhere in the 400 awhp range i'd assume. New clutch is in just gotta button up the small stuff and add new fluids.

Well car is back together,

new XTD Stage 4 unsprung 6 puck
new fidenza flywheel replacement plate
new oem throwout bearing
fresh MT90
new shifter cables and bushings
new controls arms from 1Aautomotive
new moog tierods, and end links

I'm amazed how much lighter the clutch actually is at pedal compared to my ACT 2600 street disc set up I had prior. With the new cables and bushings the car has never shifted so smooth. I need to get 500 miles on it before the 31st which is the next local 1/8th mile drag event. Hopefully with the new set up I'll break into the 7s.

Should have taken some pictures of the progress but of course I forgot!
